The Oyster is lovely. The vibe is great and the waiter was so sweet, patient and helpful and also quite fun. The decor and locale are excellent. Wine selection good. Only thing that let our experience down was the main course. 2 of 3 of our party had the pork. It was not as tasty as expected plus we both commented that the expectation was that the pork would be a bit crispy on the outside. Salad was great. Potatoes excellent.
Wonderful Sunday lunch with the family! Great fish tacos, the wee oyster rolls, so tasty!! Eggplant was lovely, but on the smallish side for a main for both of the ladies at our table. Our men folk ordered the mussel pasta and loved it but likewise thought the portions were on the smaller side. The only generous portion dish was the steak, but why come to Oyster Inn for the steak? Anyway, our service was excellent and the views divine. Our only criticism would be on the portion sizes of the mains. We'll be back!
Absolutely wonderful, my husband and I have been eating all across NZ north to south and this is a meal we will not forget. The oysters were super fresh with a fine dressing, optional. The mussel linguine was something I’ll dream about, truly. The atmosphere was also super great. Good music and vibes. The staff was lovely a must visit!
Went for a birthday dinner, luckily they managed to fit us in as we hadn't booked. The food was delicious. The best oysters I've had with mignonette. Service was great and made us feel so welcome. Liked the more 'foodie' dishes over the standard ones fish and chips however it was good fish and chips by any standards.Food: 5/5
Service was friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and every item we ordered. Strongly recommend seafood tower - it allows you try a bit of everything. The oysters were really fresh and juicy. The mignonette really enhanced the taste to the next level.
Great food, lovely service. Adult fish and chips and mussel pasta, kids fish and chips all ordered and yum. Oysters tasty too. Cocktails superb. We had an early booking at 5pm with 2 adults and a 4 year old. Staff went out of their way to engage with our daughter. Weather was average. Can imagine this place just lovely on a warm summers eve.
This review is referring to the restaurant. It was one of the best meals I've ever eaten! The service was amazing and the staff is so friendly. I wanted to go back to Waiheke Island the next day just to eat there again. Everything ingredient was super fresh. Craft cocktails are fabulous as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!Rooms: 5/5
Based on our experience just after NYE - call ahead and book a table and don’t sit at the bar. We ended up at the bar as walk-in which is fair enough and enjoyed great food - but service was really bad: we waited for one hour for the mains after the first course as the bar man had obviously forgot to set off the next part of the order - that can happen of course - at the same time it was obvious in the 2,5 h we spend there that the bar guys go a good job with cocktails and drinks but that really also keeps them totally busy. But now to the pleasantries … great food indeed. Not only the oysters but all of the samples we tested were 5 quality. Certainly at an upmarket price but also to be expected on the island and the setting overlooking the Main Street and the sea Enjoy
Four of us dined in the restaurant. View is wonderful, service very friendly but slow at times, although restaurant was pretty busy so wait was acceptable. Food was delicious and beautifully presented and there was a an excellent range of drinks, including zero alcohol beers. Lots of wine options by the glass, but alcohol was pretty expensive. Our major dislike was the number of dogs in the restaurant. We had two mid-large dogs on one side and and a small quiet dog on the other. One of the big dogs kept barking and it was on a fairly long leash tied to a pole supporting the balcony roof. Both of our friends are nearing 90 and one is quite unsteady walking. The dog went to meet our friend as he arrived, and it could have caused a very nasty fall. All four of us love dogs and we have dogs of our own but I don’t think having them in a restaurant is acceptable. Will definitely go back to the restaurant but will check out the dog situation first.
Had dinner with partner here 2 days prior, meals were fine if you liking posh pub grub , fries ? Fries? Steak n fries , salad was a half a bag of salad greens nothing more nothing less , maybe a slight splash of oil, What we thought would be high end dinning , was not, paper napkins, overall, a bit over rated.
