Took my kids in the Ernest Kemp recently to see the carvings in lake Taupo. It was a drizzly sort of day, and a little cold out. We sat outside for part of the tour and then inside on the way back. The tour was excellent. The commentary was detailed and we learnt a lot about the area and the carvings. The lady who was looking after us all was really lovely and helpful. We got plenty of opportunity to take photos. Would highly recommend this tour.
Even though the weather on the day was changeable, I can't fault the experience, we had an absolute ball!! The Couple who ran the cruise were very friendly & had great local knowledge. The complimentary tea, coffee & cookies was such a nice touch. We felt genuinely welcome the whole time - great customer service!
What a wonderful way to see Taupo and the Māori rock carving is a sight to behold wow. Staff were friendly and helpful I was concerned that no safety guidance was given or any sign of life jacket incase something terrible had happened it is a very cold and long swim. But well worth the trip and lovely old boat with complimentary biscuits and tea and coffee offered.
I’ve been doing this tour since I was a baby, always a beautiful tour of the lake. Great commentary and nicely priced per person. You get a 2hr return trip but also some great historical information. They even stopped for 5-10mins so some of the kids could have a quick dip once we got to the carvings. Didn’t realise you can also go right to the front of the boat as well. Loved my adult experience of this cruise. Highly recommend if you are wanting to see some of Taupo’s treasures. It would pay to book ahead of time and check weather, they currently have 2 sessions a day.
Nice way to see more of the beautiful Lake Taupo and it’s surroundings in a short time. Charming boat, great commentary. The rock carvings are truly beautiful.
Was a great trip ashame was abit rough for a swim, kids didnt get any postcards or stickers as promised on pamphlet but overall was a great experience.
Wonderful experience! The skipper had fantastic information and knowledge as did the deckhand. Despite the rain, it was enjoyable.
Cute little boat, really nice skipper with lots of info and commentary, really awesome crew man, helpful and friendly, was a good morning, pity the mountains were clouded over but was still magical... Definitely recommend this company for a ride out to the rock carving... Amazing time..
Absolutely amazing experience! Even on a cold brisk morning it is definitely worth the time if you're in Taupo! Not only going to see the Mine Bay Maori Carvings but just getting to go around the lake and hear about the different places! 100% recommend!!!
A must do on Lake Taupo to see the Mauri Carvings. Very pleasant and leisurely trip!
