Been meaning to drive up to auckland to try this for ages. Got there 11 am when they opened. No lines. Got the 3 tacos and ramen. Heard mix reviews from people so went and tried it. Staff were good friendly. Got a beer, 3 tacos and the ramen. Food looked fresh and delisious however it was bland. Tacos were on the soggy side, beef was bland and ramen was .... Most of it out got thrown out. Beer was good. Might have been an off day, or due to being Easter weekend. No complaints on the price, think it was 45 bucks for it all. Food was just bland and drove from outta town.
Finally got the chance to grab a Broke Boy taco a couple of weeks back & it absolutely lives up to the hype, this place is a testament to the concept of doing one thing really well.nnMy only regret is just ordering 3 tacos for the ride home to Tauranga because I immediately wanted more the next day- the birria is exquisite , the taco perfectly crisp, and really reasonably priced!nnI also have to mention I went on a Saturday evening, the owner wasn’t onsite that I could see, in the 30ish minutes place was packed, totally reasonable I was waiting for my order, I was genuinely impressed by the crew working: totally seamless & I could hear them adjust to special orders, work to make accommodations as they went, being super efficient all the way. I’m a hospo vet, so I’m very forgiving, but not easily impressed. This team was among the best I’ve seen.nnThe food lives up to the hype, and the staff are exceptional, even if the boss isn’t there. Easiest 5 stars of my life! Go now, if you haven’t already!
Definitely worth the long wait! I absolutely love their tacos, full of flavour and so satisfying. I also tried their noodles, but they weren’t really my favourite. Still, the tacos are a must-try and make the visit totally worth it!
I preferred the taco ramen over the tacos and consommé—not that the tacos were bad; they were good too. The flavors in their food are outstanding. They keep the menu limited, focusing on quality and consistency, which I really appreciate.
The experience overall was underwhelming. I thought the tacos needed more flavour and the quesadillas we tried were better than the tacos itself. I would definitely give my experience an okay one, not the greatest. Definitely first and last to try.
