Botswana is lovely. The location is just amazing. I was told a lot of amazing things about this restaurant. For me it didn’t quite live up to the hype. Our waiter, Francine was super lovely. She provided us with great recommendations and was super attentive. For entree we ordered the oysters and the Peking duck pancakes. The restaurant was more than welcoming to cater for my gluten free requirement which was lovely. I was expecting sliced Peking duck but it was more like shredded chicken. The mains we had the lamb rack and the bolting steak. These were amazing and probably some of the best steak I have had. The sides were okay too. Drink recommendations were lovely.
Very good quality of food... good selection of dishes, plus the stuff very friendly. .. also they have a good variety and yummy cocktails... Just the waiting time for the meal is a bit longer than other restaurants... the atmosphere is pleasant, and the architecture of the building is comfortable... they have a nice bar on the top floor with a beautiful fire and comfortable couches... very nice... everything is clean and pleasant... happy to come again...
Extremely busy so book a reservation because the food and experience are worth it. Fantastic menu from entree to main to dessert. And the wine list - a slam dunk. The place feels spacious and not cramped at all. The decor is nice. The staff - friendly and top notch. Had a lovely dinner.
The service at the restaurant is of the highest level. The attention to detail from arrival to departure is outstanding. The Chef does the classics beautifully, but also has the ability to think outside the box and combine flavours in extraordinary ways. I attended for a special wine dinner, and I can’t wait to return to enjoy their full menu. The cocktails aretoo. Enjoy an espresso martini by the fire.
Amazing restaurant. I wish I could gave it more stars. Make sure you book it first since it is always fully booked. Staff is very friendly and kind, they look after you very well. Food was delicious, everysingle dish was superb. What to say about the meats. Incredibly delicious. The waiting time between placing the order and getting the food was good. Came for lunch on Friday, there was already a big group of people when we arrived. There was no other diners, it seemed like a quiet early lunch service. We placed our order soon after we settled down and drinks arrived very quickly. However, we waited for 30 mins for our foods. The wait was a bit long in my opinion, especially the restaurant wasn’t busy. The food was delicious but not incredible. Service was fine but I think it could have been more attentive. It got busy as the day went on and it appeared to me they did not have enough staffs to provide ‘exemplary levels of service’. I would like to give it another try and come back for dinner.
Had high expectations for this restaurant given the chain has opened up in Sydney, and this was the original. Food was great, but did not impress. White bait was bland and severely lacked seasoning. Scallops were perfectly cooked. Steak was slightly over medium rare. But the bone marrow butter was to die for! Salad was crisp, fresh and well dressed/seasoned.
We ordered Angus Eye fillets with seasonal vegetables and both dishes were amazing. It was one of the best steaks I have ever tried. And customer service was excellent. I think this experience was worth the high price. It was a lovely evening
Botswana Butchery in Queenstown is undoubtedly one of New Zealand's premier restaurants. The quality and presentation of the food was of the highest class. The meals were enjoyed by all of our large party. Of course the prices are high, but that's what you get if you want to experience such fine dining. Highly recommend, but maybe as a treat.
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. Our flight was delayed which meant we arrived about 1hr after our reservation time. When we arrived at the restaurant, the staff were still very accommodating and let us dine inside. We had a cosy private room to ourselves, and the staff were attentive and knew when to come in to collect our plates / clean the table. We ordered the scallops, high country lamb, and angus eye fillet - all very delicious. When desert arrived, the team added in a lovely message to celebrate our anniversary which they had remembered after we added in a note on our reservation. Overall, great place and would recommend to anyone visiting Queenstown!
