I've been to a number theaters around the world but I have never seen one anything like this. The Indian-inspired decorated foyer is spectacular. The ornately decorated columns with elephant capitals, seated Buddhas, the star-sprinkled ceiling, and the elephant decorated chandelier are just some of the amazing decorations! If you didn't know you were in New Zealand you'd think you were in India! The Civic theater in Auckland is a must visit.
This is a special place. A theater where dreams are made. What a treat to be entertained here. Never miss an opportunity to attend this venue if one is presented to you.
Was amazing and had incredible time with my brother and sister..we went to watch "The Matador Show"!!! Fantastic night and excellent show
Brought back great memories of watching films. Entry and exit from the venue was smooth. Staff were helpful. Great seats though somewhat difficult to get in and out if you're seated in the middle. Great acoustics. Comfortable temperature. All in all, very enjoyable.
Such an iconic destination. The 1st time I went to the Civic was with my Dad in 1978 to see Star Wars. When I was at University I joined the support to save the Civic in the nineties. I've modeled and TV presented in this iconic haunted landmark. They say if the walls could talk they'd tell many stories. There are so many hidden areas. I love the Civic and all the Ghosts it has. Girl from the North Country now showing.
Went to go and see the Topp Twins Tribute show. A great night in a beautiful Theatre.
This was my first time here and wow wow wow. I was in a mouth drop awe. The building inside and out is just beautiful. I went here with my partner to watch Mary Poppins. The show on top of the civic building made my night to perfection. Highly recommending going to visit the building and if you have the chance, then go see a show too.
Watched the "Rock Follies Forever"show late June, I brought my Mom there. Although she didn't know anything from the TV series. She truly enjoyed. I love watching shows in the Civic. The pandemic reinforced my views that how talented Kiwi musicians are - we just need to give them more support.
1st came here to watch Star Wars in 1977 and it is still one of the best places to watch a show/movie...so very cool
Beautiful venue. Acoustics are great. Ushers were friendly and welcoming. The wine quality was good. Security dealt efficiently with a disruptive person behind us. And if course, Marlon Williams was brilliant as usual.
