Story

The Auckland Ferry Terminal, sometimes called the Downtown Ferry Terminal or simply Ferry Building, is the hub of the Auckland ferry network that connects Auckland City with suburbs in North Shore, west Auckland, and south Auckland, and islands in the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf. The ferry terminal is in the Auckland CBD on the Auckland waterfront. It is at the north end of Queen Street, opposite the Britomart Transport Centre, which is the hub for local buses and trains.FacilitiesThe ferry terminal is composed of two main elements, with an older, yellow Edwardian Baroque building facing Queen Street and the city side, while the newer wharves and waiting area building (the actual ferry terminal of today) face the Waitemata Harbour.Old buildingThe building usually referred to as the Auckland Ferry Terminal was designed by Alex Wiseman, and built by Philcox and Sons. Completed in 1912 on reclaimed land out of sandstone and brick with a base of Coromandel granite, it cost ₤67,944 to construct (approximately NZ$10.9 million in 2016), a large sum for the day.

Only giving 3 stars cos of all the roadworks. Nonetheless, they have done a good job putting up signages to guide you to the right pier. People manning the info desks are also friendly. Ferries are roughly on time. Take a ride to get amazing views of the Auckland skyline!
Great to see that some historic pieces of the down town wharf areas rediscovered and kept so all can see. The upgrade has made for a pleasant area to sit meet and eat.
Ferry terminal to get ferries to Waiheke, Rangitoto, Devonport and more.
An iconic building that dates back to when it was the tallest building in sight! Always a buzz of activity with restaurants and cafes and a starting point for various harbour cruises.
Always bustling with tourist leaving or coming to Auckland. Lined up with restaurants and cafes... Most importantly, thank you Auckland Council for installing public drinking fountains in strategic places round the terminal
Ferry is the best way to commute and travel in Auckland! The ferries are very punctual and depart to a variety of destinations around Auckland. Highly recommend a trip to Waiheke for any visitors!
Easy to use and I highly recommend taking a ferry to Waiheke Island!
A great ferry terminal but currently there is a lot of construction going on next to it. The ferries are mostly on time which is great.
