I strongly warn others against staying at Aria on Bank. I attempted to stay there while my husband was in Dunedin hospital. The property is a severe safety hazard. Upon checking in, the internal light switches began arcing, the lights failed completely, and the exterior light was making a dangerous buzzing noise. Because it was late at night and reception was closed, and the room was entirely uninhabitable and unsafe, I was left stranded in the dark, with no choice but to abandon the property to sleep in a chair in my husband’s hospital room. When they were notified of the issue the next morning and were made aware that I had been unable to stay there, the motel failed to offer a refund. When we sought a refund via email, they agreed to a refund but then attempted to withhold it unless we emailed unsecure physical photographs of our credit card and driver's license. This is a severe violation of financial data security standards and puts consumers at severe risk of fraud. They also blocked us from being able to leave a review via Booking.com. Also, booking.com customer service has completely failed to assist with this safety hazard and simply directs us to deal directly with the motel. Do not stay here if you value your physical safety or your financial security.
We stayed in room 18. Parking was right out in front of our room. The motel units are on different levels due to it's location on a hillside. Our unit had the living and bathroom at ground level and the bedrooms downstairs. This was due to it being on a hillside. The rooms were clean and in good condition. Each bedroom had a heater. Upstairs had all you needed with a basic kitchen with a cooktop/microwave/fridge etc. The lounge had a heatpump that kept the place warm. Chairs and couch were reasonably comfortable. Overall our unit had a great shower, pressure and volume, comfortable beds, somewhere comfortable to sit and was clean. The 4 things you want in a motel. I would happily stay here again.
I chose this based of previous reviews and was quite DISGUSTED to what i walked into. It just filthy and def not up to standard. BLACK MOULD growing under the shower and laminated flooring, floors and curtains dirty and spotted, toilets not properly cleaned! Parking? What parking, you cant even get your car in there, and if you by some miracle did you would need to hope nobody parks next to you because then you are 100% stuck! I would NOT RECOMMEND! You can get much better value for your $200 elsewhere!
Comfortable and spacious rooms with kind staff. Peaceful in spite of being located in a student area, and conveniently located near the gardens shopping centre. Some distance from the city centre, so driving is recommended, or take the scenic walk through the gardens and university campus to town.
Cute tidy room. However, the bed felt dented and gave both me and husband a sore back. The room is opposite an up slop highway on ramp. Woken up by the big trucks almost every morning around 5am.nI like the location which is away from the noise streets.
