Arcadia Book Store

Amazing small shop. Very courteous staff. I bought a few rare old editions books day before and the experience was so outstanding, went here again today. Bought a few more books. The owner seems like a very knowledgeable person and extremely down to earth, his politeness, mannerism reminds one what a nice place Oxford can be. In just two encounters I have deep respect for this kind person and I hope I have similar experience in every shop I visit. Inevitably, he has hired really kind staff too. Thanks for having such a friendly environment in the shop. Thanking may seem odd, but one must in this era of depravity and rudeness. Do visit the shop at least once to know what I mean, if your schedule permits.

A very well maintained cozy little shop that instantly evoked delight in me after my first visit. Started to regularly purchase books from the store. You get beautiful postcards for free on purchasing a book. Must visit for an Oxford experience. The staff is most polite and the wonderful couple that own the shop are very friendly.

I went into this lovely little shop today in my brief visit to Oxford, it was like a beautiful wonderland and the lonely couple who owned it couldn’t have been nicer to me. Helped me with a nice restaurant, directions and a present for my mum. Would come back here time and time again if only I lived closer! I don’t ever write reviews, but i had such a lovely experience that I thought I ought to!

I've always adored this shop. In every season it’s a feast for the senses and seems to embody William Morris’ golden rule, “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”. Classical music is always played, and with its collection of second-hand books, vintage prints and postcards, calendars, stationary and the prettiest gifts and decorations imaginable, it's an oasis of charm and fascination.

Beautiful little shop just hidden out of view from the main stretch of the city. Sometimes you can find some pretty good books from here at quite reasonable prices, if you're a collector this is definitely more your style - many 1st edition books. I only wish it was larger and held more variety of products within it where one can get lost and explore it's whimsical crevices. Regardless, if you're into either books or the beautiful then make sure to visit when in Oxford.
