Had a coffee with toasted slice of banana bread and cinnamon toast both with butter. They were yummy, coffee was fresh and hot. Prices very reasonable for a city cafe. Great service the gentleman made suggestions and helped me decide, he was smiling, patient and friendly. I couldn't ask for anything more.
I had an awful experience at this cafe today. I politely queried my bill when it came to pay as it was a little more than I was expecting. The business owner told me in a raised voice that I was charged extra because I’d asked for tomato on my toastie and surely I didn’t expect him run a business where customers expected free tomato when he had to source it. I was courteous at all times and simply asked for a break-down of my bill - the way that I was treated was unnecessarily rude and and aggressive. I am never going back to this establishment and I’ll be telling all of my friends to steer clear as well.
My absolute favourite lunch spot in Hobart. Service is quick and personable, the owner always remembers me and says hello. I love the lunch specials and always make time for lunch with a friend when I see gnocchi on the menu!
Good affordable coffee, but the manager is not very friendly. Made my partner feel very uncomfortable when he asked her to put her packed lunch away. In some ways fair enough, but there is a right and wrong way to go about things. Plenty of other cafe options in Hobart so I doubt we'll go back.
While waiting for my order owner instructed a man to leave his store very rudely as he had walked in already holding a coffee cup from another store. Fair request but could have been handled in a much more friendly manner. Situation was uncomfortable and we left feeling quite awkward.. Have experienced good service there previously, however have chosen not to return as I am more often than not dissatisfied in my experience.
The owner is not a nice man. He kept coming over and checking how far I was into my coffee and then told me I needed to leave because "they were going to get busy for lunch." No joke there were 7 other tables open and I'd been there for 20-30 minutes. I should have known better. A friend told me how one time he yelled at him for standing outside the cafe window while my friend was waiting for the library to open. I will definitely get my coffee elsewhere when I go to the library. There are lots of other cafes around.
Owner didn't feel friendly - felt like he wanted me to leave ASAP while I was having the coffee in the cafe. Coffee was also just so-so
The owner here is rude. Today I went library, due to phone ranging, I went out the library. While I was focuing on phone, I just sit down without thinking. The owner just suddenly came to me and interrupted my conversation. I immediately realise I walking into outdoor seating area of the cafe. I apologiesed then left right the way. But afer phone call, I just suddenly realised "Did the owner just try to kick me out because I haven't ordered anything? " I understand that's the business place. Maybe the owner can come to me after I finished my call, see what may he serve? But while I was still on phone, the owner just interrupted. What a great customer service? How offended behaviour that was. I told my partner what just happened. He said he went there before with mates. While his mate order the coffees, my partner picked up the newspaper then owner came to him and accuse him not ordered anything, just reading newspaper. So now I don't suprise what just happened. I just moved to Hobart, I would like to explore the life and food here but I don't think that I would like to go there in short term. Because whatever the food is good or not, without a general . The customer service won't be excellent and business opportunity is just limited. This one star rating just because this specific event. Maybe someday, I might give it a try, then I will see how the food quality and service go.
It's always a pleasure to grab a coffee, fruit drink or a snack from here before heading to the Hobart library right next door Owner and the staff are always friendly
Never ever come back to this cafe. The service there is sooooo bad! I bought a coffee this afternoon, and I came back to ask for some tissues because I spilt the coffee. The guy there had this to say: he is just trying to survive and has to pay for tissues! He even said no tissue would be served with coffee! Such a ridiculous thing!
