Great little experiential zoo. Instead of seeing animals in enclosures, you're in the enclosure with most of the animals. Crowds are small or non-existent. Feeding wallabies, kangaroos, and interacting with most animals. Don't rush through just to see each animal. Instead, take your time and look in all the nooks and crannies. Can you find the frogmouths? They're closer than you think. Watch birds build nests, mate, feed their chicks. A very peaceful and special place. No need to sign up for the special meals. Everyone is invited. And the best... Your entry is good for 5 days, do you can come and go as you please.

I'm not normally a fan of zoos, but this was a very different experience and setup. The animals all seemed quite happy in their large habitats, and many very willingly approached and interacted with visitors. In addition, there was lots of educational material posted around the site and all of the staff seemed very willing to share their deep knowledge with visitors. We had a great experience just wandering around for a few hours, and I'm sure the scheduled events were quite good too. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast with the bird's. Animals are well looked after and the space is used very well. Worth spending a few hours here exploring. Would highly recommend following staff around for the bird feeding. They are full of knowledge. Hand feeding a cassowary was a highlight. It's not super cheap but a good way to see most of the iconic Australian animals in one spot.

At the Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas, you can meet a wide range of Australian wildlife. You can also book a night tour to encounter nocturnal animals. 
They have a commitment to animal conservation and make sure all animals there have the space they need. 
There is plenty of friendly wallabies and kangaroos easy to pet.

I really enjoyed this. There is plenty to see. It would also be amazing for children. If you want a presentation on a species or animal,  they have them at set times. It is light and airy with  vast amount of animals and birds to look at.
