Julatten was gaining a reputation in the early 1990s as a hotspot for birds and the previous owners had begun to cater for birders. We first came to Kingfisher Park as campers in 1998 and were asked to live on-site which we did for 4 years, guiding birders and conducting night spotlighting walks. In 2004 family commitments took us back to the UK but on our return we housesat for 5 years next door to Kingfisher Park and continued guiding partly in conjunction with KP again. When the land and business came up for sale, us buying Kingfisher Park in Feb, 2015 seemed like a logical progression. On this page we encourage posts of photos and information on the wide array of birds and other wildlife seen around the grounds and nearby. We will update the accommodation information as we continue to make improvements.

Amazing & hospitable couple managing this property. Birding can be done at the front of your apartment with such high bird density in the area.

For the bird watchers amongst you, this rustic little retreat cannot be beat because the owners are dedicated bird watchers themselves. They can arrange well priced day trips with experts who will absolutely show you all the species you could want to see, customized for your preference.

The Indian robin (Saxicoloides fulicatus[note 1]) is a species of bird in the familyMuscicapidae. It is widespread in the Indian subcontinent, and ranges across Bangladesh,Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The males of northern populations have a brown back whose extent gradually reduces southwards with populations in the southern peninsula having an all black back. They are commonly found in open scrub areas and often seen running along the ground or perching on low thorny shrubs and rocks. Their long tails are held erect and their chestnut undertail covert and dark body make them easily distinguishable from the pied bushchat and the oriental magpie robin.
