Story

Watergate Restaurant & Lounge Bar is located in the heart of Port Douglas, at the corner of Grant and Macrossan Street, behind Rotary Park. Enter down the flame lit path from Macrossan Street to find the perfect hidden gem for lunch, dinner, tapas or a mouth-watering cocktail.

The restaurant seats up to 120 guests with both indoor sections and outdoor (under cover) dining decks surrounded by lush tropical gardens and tranquil flames.

The cuisine is Modern Australian, with an asian twist, encapsulating our modern tropical lifestyle. Our Executive Chef sources fresh, seasonal produce to prepare innovative and enticing dishes, which reflect contemporary trends in Australasian cooking.

Watergate also has a modern well appointed bar and extensive lounge area, ideal for cocktails at sunset, or tapas and a bottle of wine… The perfect way to unwind after a busy week or eventful day. The lounge is a great place to meet friends, enjoy pre-dinner drinks or indulge in desserts and coffee to finish off your evening.

Actually closer to 4.5 than 4, but the service was a bit of a let down. Nice enough wait staff, but was a bit disordered and poorly timed. Food was excellent, a great selection with good flavour profiles, and quite a variety. Fish was slightly overcooked, but tasted good, pork was very well prepared. Overall a must-try in Port Douglas. (Unless you're on a budget of course)

The reef fish was easily the most amazing fish I've ever had. Service is top notch! Cocktails on point and still cheaper than our resort restaurants.

Surprisingly good restaurant, the food was amazing, my 8 year old daughter even enjoyed everything including the vegetables and the fish which is a first! The staff were awesome, we had one potentially awkward moment, the steak I ordered was a tough piece, due to the piece of meat itself, not due to the cooking, I told my waitress this and the manager came straight over and asked if they could give me a different meal and all the staff were very apologetic. I switched to the fish which was amazing, and finished off with the chocolate cake which was too notch. Started with the pork belly by the way, loved that too! One of the best restaurants I've been to all in all!
