Such a cute place, from the artistic design of the dining areas to the nicely selected music it feels this venue has gone to some effort to create a memorable experience. The food was hands down the best Japanese we’ve had in the inner west, forgot to take pics before we started munching away. Highly recommend for an intimate evening.
Delicious food - really enjoyed the kingfish tacos and karaage chicken. Ramen was delicious but a small portion. Loved that you can order through an ipad and service was very quick. Ambience - tiny crowded space. Tables are very close together so you will hear what the next person is talking about word for word. Groups - there are booths available - best to book.
Ordered the scallop ramen, the prawns, the fried eggplant and salmon tartare. Everything were nice, apart from the eggplant. The sauce was a bit too salty and the eggplant was a bit hard. But overall the food are very nice. A bit on the pricey side, but even cabbage is now over ten dollars in the market so maybe that's the norm now.
Tried the vegan menu. The vegan eggplant katsu curry was not really flavourful. Overrated. The vegan karaage tasted like popcorn chicken. Average taste. And really small portion of the chicken, salad and sauce. Not really like the photo. Nevertheless, the vegan black tantan ramen was really flavourful and tasty! The portions overall is small. The customer service though is excellent. Very warm and polite.
First of all, this is the only restaurant/eatery I’ve ever been to across 25 countries where I had to pay extra for hot water tea pot refill. Initially we thought they might put extra tea leaves to keep the tea strong but it’s then proven negative. Dishes are instaworthy, but taste is not as good as it’s ratings. I don’t get why they are famous for their ramen - tokonsu was meh, the prawn ramen tasted like soup I made with prawn heads, scallops ramen was indescribable. I don’t recall not being able to finish one bowl of ramen ever. Their sashimi I would rate no more than 2 stars - sushi train cutting but not fresh at all they had to use a piece of cucumber to hide the taste of scallops. Salmon tartare was ok the best dish amongst all. Staff were friendly. Will not come back or recommend anyone to visit especially if you are coming here for their ‘famous’ ramens
If you're after variety and want to cater to vegans and meat eaters this restaurant fits the profile. As a vegan, I was very excited to see so many options on the menu! Overall, the food was ok - unfortunately I've had better. Flavour wise, food wasn't as punchy as I like it. The curry lacked flavour and the tofu katzu was bland. The ambience was great though and staff were very polite.
This spot has been on my to-go list for a while. Bookings are highly recommended as there can be a bit of a wait. Ramen was decent and enjoyable but was lacking a wow factor. Other than that, friendly service and convenient location.
You know what, I totally rate this place. It’s so tucked away. You’d never know it’s there although you should. The food is actually delicious and very cost friendly. Is it the absolute best Japanese I’ve ever had? No. Is it one of the best I’ve ever had for that price? Definitely. I’d 100% be going back. While everything was good, the sashimi is next level. Super fresh. Yuuumm!
Came here specifically for the ramen and ordered their signature dish, the Hokkaido Scallop and Burnt Corn Ramen. Considering the premium price of $22.50, I felt the serving size was too small. The broth was tasty but the scallops had no flavour. I recommend ordering an extra bowl of noodles. The service was friendly and booking online was easy. I did like the interiors and the booth seating.
This place has an excellent food! So tasty and rich. That’s the best Takoyaki I’ve tried, so worth it. You should definitely try their cockatiels as well because it’s gentle and memorable. We will come back for sure. Also we were lucky that we didn’t reserve anything on Sunday and still got a table there. Yummy!
