I live in San Francisco, and love visiting my family in Eltham, AU. During every visit I went to Volumes many times. The food was delicious, they had quality and fun merchandise, and amazing customer service. Their employees were kind, friendly, and always remembered you. I was sad to see they closed. Great memories!
Best gift shop in Nillumbik/Banyule, with quality products!! Where else can you get a colouring in book for the kids, a Marilyn Monroe bag for your sister, a scarf for your mum, a note book with various animals mating on the cover for your best friend, soaps for the hubby he loves them!, mug for the father in law, a candle for yourself, tea towel for the neighbour, earrings for the boss at work, and a purse because I needed it! Love love love this place!!!!
Visited on Sunday. Loved the food and variety on offer. However the let downs were the poorly made coffee, next to no service and lack of any background music - makes the place seem rather noisy inside, though it was somewhat busy as well.
I had been here before a few years back, and went for a late afternoon lunch with a friend. It's a little disappointing that the kitchen closes at 2.30pm on weekdays and 3pm on Sundays - if you want something more than the quiches and such in the display cabinet, you don't have that - but it's well-signed so they let you know. I had a fruit salad and my friend had the seafood platter; he found the platter to be exceptionally good, and my fruit salad was decent although the honey melon was a little underripe. The atmosphere is lovely - the bookshop is great - but I find the prices a little steep for what is served. $10.50 for a bowl of fruit salad? $17 for fish and chips? It's not over-priced, but it's a little more than I would think reasonable for what is provided. There is no table service but the gentleman at the counter was polite. We will be going here again, but more as an indulgence, not frequently.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. The gift shop always has unusual pieces and changes stock regularly. Fabulous that it's open so early. Be great if it opened for dinner too!
Really disappointed, use to come to this place and loved it, but now not so much. They have stopped selling some of the best options such as the banana and walnut bread and the sweet French toast and the milkshakes were extremely runny with no flavour.
Four stars for the well curated bookshop and gift area and the general ambience of the entire place, considerably fewer for the stodgy, uninspired food. If the menu was refreshed and improved, would be an obvious choice for lunch or breakfast.
We have been here many times but today my black tea was too strong and they wanted to charge for hot water to make it drinkable - really !!!!! Won't be back for a long time now, poor, very poor.
Friendly staff. Shop nicely laid out with a variety of different items to buy books, jewellery and gifts. Tucked away in a small strip of shops in Diamond Creek, but well worth finding and exploring.
Always can depend on great service and food. Even when they areflat out and had delays they apologized and offered us a free coffee. All the very best to the new management taking over.
