I have donated substantial items recently due to moving, I was treated so rudely by an elder man who was supposedly working for Vinnies! He also degraded the young man assisting him. I will never donate again , Salvos here I come ! Those ladies are lovely.
Have found some great items at this store and continue to shop and donate here, however I was disappointed when I donated a number of very high quality ladies dressesnSome new, some near new allnFreshly laundered and ironed on hangersnI explained this when I gave themnTo the “gentle man” who took them roughly from me took them off the hangers threw them in a large cage with with all other donations and proceeded to shove them down with an old rake /broom.nThese dresses were rack ready, it really upset me that this was how high quality donations were treated
Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought Vinnies was a not for profit organisation. I also thought that workers were either volunteers or doing 3 days per week to obtain Jobseeker and not have to apply for employment. I ask this as I was shocked by their prices. A pair of shoes, that were filthy and had gum on the sole, were priced at $15. Families can dress cheaper at Big W if you wait for sales. I donated a book that I had purchased from Vinnies. Was told they wouldn't take it and I asked if I could throw it in the skip. Was told no as they pay to empty it! So disappointed with Vinnies.
Love getting books for my little one from Vinnies. Very affordable children's book price, usually at 3 for $1
I am sorry to say that some of the staff at the Yeppoon shop need some customer relations training. We have visited the shop on a couple of occasions over the last 6 months with some quality household items only to be met with a rude response and “we don’t take anything from the front shop”.nThe staff at the Salvation Army are so thankful for the gear and very obliging.
