we had a group of 7 dining for lunch and had the $60 set menu - could not fault any of the dishes and the fact that they made special allowances for an allergy in our group was really impressive. drinks were always being topped up, the food came out at a really good pace - not too fast or too slow. the dessert plate was the highlight - amazing presentation and all of the items were made with perfection and tasted gorgeous.
Great food and friendly service. We tried a few dishes and the flavors were amazing, save room for the soufflé We did a Sunday lunch service was prompt and staff were helpful and friendly. There was a large table booked in the middle of the restaurant so can be a bit noisy. A great way to start a stay in Double Bay enjoy
A wonderful setting that has recently re-opened in February, the restaurant is gorgeous space with lots of natural light. It has a French/Mediterranean inspired menu. The roast chicken with sauce Provençal and salmon carpaccio were amazing. The service is warm and friendly.
I've had mixed experiences at this place. I really enjoy the ambience on this cute street in double bay for either drinks or dinner. Bartenders can make a mean drink and the wait staff who are fairly attentive and all international are on the most part polite. The management can come across as stuck up though and suffer from the classic Sydney resterauntitlement. You know the one where you feel like you should be just so amazed you've been allowed to dine at their amazing facility. It's good, not great. ....probably won't go back
Foodl: 3.5/5, Service: 5/5, Ambience: 4/5 Vine Double Bay dining room & wine bar is nicely located in the laneways just off the main strip. Depending on your point of view, my I think it's great. It's quite an elegant fit out with long tables and private areas for groups, casual bar / cocktail reception areas both inside and out and themed to it's name, strategic accents of greenery throughout the space and weaved into the roof! The menu is a modern play of French by Executive Chef Drew Bolton and it's quite sophisticated. Our meal: 1. Salmon carpaccio, yuzu & trout roe vinaigrette, marjoram and toast. Very nice blend of Japanese peppery flavors here. Soft and subtle, lovely presentation, as the entree introduces you to the start of your meal. 2. Octopus salad, olives, sundried tomato, potato, pickled fennel. Is it tweaked Greek or Italian - so much going on here, just loved the crunch to the salad with the waft of sour from the various elements that also colored the dish beautifully. 3. Gemelli pasta, spanner crab, chilli, zucchini. This is an underutilised pasta in my opinion. Unlike standard spirals, you've got slits in the Germelli allowing the pasta catch the sauce as a centre filling for extra burst alongside the given protein. I really liked the dish, however if I were to order again, I would go for extra chill and bring down the salt, as there are so many ways I imagine this dish to be enjoyed if you can take a bit of heat! 4. 1/2 Roast chicken with sauce Provencal. Excellent cooked breast. Soft with juices retained. Exquisite! Service: Our supervisor, Jerome and hostess, Elena are so personable I can see these guys really taking charge and engaging with their patrons and bringing the best out of the occasion whatever you might choose to visit the venue for. A really nice space with a slick menu and two bar areas making this place a versatile option for casual drinks, corporate functions or dining. Definitely worth a visit!
Great waitstaff, great food. Terribly small portion sizes and such a long wait! We were seated at 7pm and not out till 11pm. Management were atrocious. Really not impressed.
Newly relaunched this is a stunning restaurant in Double Bay. The decor is flowing, elegant and romantic with a large bar area, communal table and smaller tables both indoor and out. We started with a couple of the cocktails from the weekly special menu - the vine street sunset and the old fashioned. The food menu is designed to share and is divided into starters, small plates, salads and larger plates. For a starter we could not go past the salmon carpaccio with yuzu and trout roe, a light and tasty way to start the night. I'm not usually one to go for a salad but the charred cos salad with spiced chicken and quail eggs was a stand out. For larger plates we opted for the gemelli pasta and the goat cheese soufflé. The pasta was served with spanner crab, chili and zucchini and whilst the serving looked small it was extremely filling. The soufflé is a good vegetarian option with goats cheese, peas, nuts and seeds. We felt that these options together worked extremely well. If you are not after a full meal then grab a couple of cocktails and the antipasto platter for two whilst you sit back and take in the stunning surrounds.
The ambiance were really good, but the food was incredibly average and the attitude of the management was very disappointing and arrogant. Just an example of how to ruin a great venue with bad service.
A large restaurant and great for parties and celebrations. Service was prompt and attentive and the food was great. Decor was simple, elegant and minimal.
A great venue to host an event. We attended Amaro Montenegro relaunch at The Vine and can confidently say the food was well prepared.
