Good coffee - interesting blend. Breakfast is yummy. The owner is always friendly and the food is prepared fresh! Lovely bread and muesli. All kinds of menu items available, can't go past the bacon and egg roll. Prices reasonable. A great place to have breakfast!
After a long day of walking, my girlfriend and I were in search of a simple burger or fish and chips in Double Bay. While many of the restaurants looked pleasant, we wanted something tasty but inexpensive. We took a look at Taste of Europe, but continued walking as neither of us were instantly grabbed by the place. But we turned around and gave it a shot and we were SO glad we did! The burgers are inexpensive and they have several different and unique! options to choose from. I chose the 'Greek' burger, which was a bit different having tzatziki and cucumbers as toppings, and when the burger arrived, it was spectacular. Adorned with a little Greek flag and sizable, I couldn't wait to bite in. The taste of the burger itself was good, but the standout? The Bun! Taste of Europe bakes their own bread, and I'm betting they baked the buns they used. So very good! I know it's an odd thing to rave about, getting a great bun on a good burger, but we went in expecting nothing special especially for <$10, and came away with a great meal. The front of house possibly the manager? person was very friendly and chatty, and we ended up getting a delicious dessert as well. If you are in the area and want a great, inexpensive bite to eat, definitely stop by.
Secretly swapping skim milk with full cream milk in a cafe is highly unacceptable. Be honest with your customers if you’ve ran out of skim milk instead of ruining the integrity of coffee. European coffees are well known for its standards. I can bloody brew my own coffee at home with the right ingredients, or even go to a better coffee shop - SO GIVE ME A REASON why should I pay again a cafe that doesn’t care about its customers and food??
Stay away! This place is obviously hurting for money ridiculous credit card surcharges, charging for tomato sauce when you order chips they will nickel and dime the hell out of you. Also there's no integrity.....they use staff to bulk up positive reviews see below review from Cody who works there. The manager is the WORST example of customer service. My partner and I showed up for breakfast and this manager sat at one of the tables gabbing away on the phone. Some sort of alarm started going off and he still sat at the table talking happily on the phone. He finally got up from the table, but failed to clean up after himself leaving not only the table he was sitting at dirty, but surrounding tables dirty as well. My partner and I cleaned off a table and took a seat. After eating sub par food my omelette was burned , I had almost written this place of except for Cody who is an employee here was a rockstar and managed to salvage the experience. Against my better judgement I decided to give this place another try a couple of weeks later. To my dismay the same manager was working. I almost walked right back out but figured, how bad could it be? I placed my order 2 coffees, an eggs florentine, and yep....an omelette. My partner was meeting me but hadn't arrived yet, so I sat at a table and waited for my coffee. After some time a small queue developed and the manager was working solo, so I understood the fact that I hadn't received my coffees yet. I watched as a loud talking obnoxious couple jumped the queue and yelled back into the kitchen. The manager came out to greet them...not surprised at all that they were friends of his. In any case he immediately serviced them, then proceeded to neglect every other customer while he stood out front talking with them I still hadn't received my coffees. The girl who was in the back cooking brought out my order and I ordered cheese in my omelette there was no cheese and yet again it was burned. If it had just been poorly cooked I would have probably suffered through it but the fact that it didn't have what I ordered caused me to have her take it away and ask for it to be prepared correctly. She then brought back the same exact omelette with a slice of cheese on the side! I waived the manager over and instead of just taking it away and making a new one, he gave me some bs story about how he made it himself and was sure he put cheese in it, I just couldn't tell because the cheese was mixed in with the eggs. Ummm...how could you be in two places at once-in the back cooking my omelette, and out front chatting with your friends?? And also, the cheese I ordered was mozzarella, so there's no mistaking that it definitely was not in that omelette, but whatever Mr. manager I don't want to argue with you so so fine; I'll work my way through it. He went back to his friends and my partner showed up. Did you order the coffee? he asked. At this point I had completely forgotten about the coffees so I once again had to interrupt the managers conversation to ask why I hadn't received my coffee order. He said he was waiting. Waiting for what? I asked. First he said he was waiting for my partner to arrive, then he said he didn't bring them because we had no room on the table because of the food. He was being completely ridiculous and oddly aggressive, so my partner and I decided to just be done with it and leave. I told him his demeanour wasn't good for business and he proceeded to yell at us as we were leaving. I paid $48 for food that I didn't eat, and coffees that I never received. Double Bay has so many cute eateries where the food is good and people are actually nice...don't waste your time or money here.
Jusst stopped for a small bottle of sparkling water. I needed to pay with eftpos, so i was told it was ok, but because it was $4 i had to pay $0.80 transaction fee, that is 20% surcharge, amazing, they won't see me here again, plenty of other options in double Bay
Nice little cafe, coffee was great, full flavour and strong. Staff friendly and while I didn't have any food it looked good with a nice range.
80 cent surcharge on all card transactions and 10% surcharge on weekends and public holidays. It also looks like the price for other things also doesn't reflect GST task. Any more hidden fees I should be aware of ?
Great coffee. A true brew. Friendly staff. Always buy my bread from here. Good breakfast too.
