I am studying Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood , in VU and I did my Masters in IT from La Trobe University. I did my Professional Year from Performance Education. Never in my entire Academic Life have I suffered as much as I am suffering after enrolling in this Uni. The instructors strive to fail you so the Uni can get more money when you repeat the course. Very bad. This uni gave me depression. I am still suffering.
Building Design - STAY CLEAR. You'll be rushed through at best, 9 week terms the last week reserved for resubmissions for up to 4 units at a time.nnYour learning will be primarily focused on passing assessments at the expense of in depth learning teachers have admitted to this, in writing no less.nnAs a result, the benchmark is low. Sure, it won't be overly difficult to pass assessment items, but you won't learn much, which won't stand you in good stead for your future career.nnThe newly appointed FT lead teacher was the least favoured teacher of past students, due to energy levels that barely reach readable human levels. On top of this, the majority of this teachers classes are made up of recordings of a former teacher.nnAnd, you'll get to take part of all of this in one of the most dull, uninspiring, decades-old buildings, despite there being some wonderful architectural alternatives on campus.nnFinally just like other reviews, the administration of the school is horrendously inadequate.nnI left 1.5 years into the course, along with three others half way through and one student who was 6 months in - we all went to another university.nnYou've been warned.nnThe industry knows this course at VU is in a state of worsening decay - do yourself a favour and go elsewhere - there are loads of better alternatives.nn*edit added 18/4/24*nOn checking HELP/VSL balance, I've discovered VU has also claimed 2024 course fees, despite having not studied at VU in 2024. It seems the lack of integrity isn't only apparent in learning and assessment, but applies equally to its fiscal conduct. I am not the only former student to whom they have done this, either.
Given other reviews, probably avoid this school. I had login issues whilst applying for enrolled nursing 29/1 start date. I tried calling campus, no answer. Web chat assured me applications were open until 29/1 and so I requested a call back. A staff member called me the following day on 23/1 and offered to assist me with applying. Mid convo the staff member says 'Oh sorry, you cannot apply- applications have closed'. And now this week Vic Uni have an advert on seek.com.au looking for Nursing School Educators Worrying
Extremely unprofessional, I had enquired in regards to applications and the male I spoke to was incredibly rude, snarky and continuously making underlying comments about my ability to read documents provided in the application. Less than impressed.
A lot of bad reviews for here and from my experience previously studying at this campus I think I can provide some insight.nYes, administration here is appalling. There has been many times that important communication has been lacking and the admin team has failed to do things correctly. In my experience though, while this is a problem and a big one especially when it comes to handling student payments, it's the main issue for this Uni.nnComments about lack of teacher care isnt quite true; what no one else mentions, that I've seen day in and day out is that the students themselves don't care and thus lead to teachers who feel they won't get anywhere putting in the work to teach these people a trade. But the students who do show a willingness to learn and understand the importance of safety get treated with much more respect. Is it great? No, but its an understandable position. No one wants to feel as though they are doing something for nothing to show for it.nApprentices are given space to work on their own and make mistakes, which teachers then come in and help them learn from.nnThis uni provides a proper chance for those who show they are capable, but as with anyone else in the trade industry, will just leave behind students who show absolutely no care for what they are doing and just want to breeze through. As with any University course at any other establishment, you need to actually apply yourself to learn things because it won't just be handed to you on a silver plate.
