I’ve been studying a cert 3 in electrical technology for about three months now at this uni and all I have to say is stay away. They are extremely greedy and money hungry and will deliberately try to fail you so you re enroll and spend even more money. The administration is among the worst I’ve experienced in my time in education, they have no idea what they are doing and leave students in the dark when you try to enquire about any issues. And don’t even get me started on the teachers, this might be exclusive to my course but the teachers are terrible, the teacher that I am currently with clearly has a bias when it comes to what students he wants to help and leave the rest to try to figure out work that they have never done before. We were also left with out a time table for a very large portion of the course and only just last week received it once our original teacher left so clearly it was his responsibility to assign it to us. If you are thinking about studying a trade or anything else for that matter please stay away fromnVictoria university.
Worst admin team I had to wait over 40 mins just to talk to someone. Don’t even get me started on the teachers aswell the one I currently have is literally just there so he can get a pay check and leave. He always puts it back on you if you ask a question and makes you seem dumb for even asking in the first place. I’m just about to leave and get transferred somewhere else because i’d have to say this is the worse schooling experience i’ve ever had.
Course curriculum has gone down hill. The advanced courses that used to be on the curriculum have been taken out of the Cert 3 course hours and are over exaggerated. You can do modules in 1 day or 2 but spread it out over 3 week 4 weeks for Cert 3 fab.nnAdmin is apauling for payments and key communication. Many apprentices agree about the admin and advanced modules, as they used to be in the course a few years ago.nnThe trade teachers are probably the best, if you apply yourself. They are also very understaffed with the apprentice intake, but they do the best and offer decades of experience with the trade and advice on life in general.
Money grabbing company when I applied for the diploma of building and construction they tried to charge me full amount even though they said it was free TAFE, not only that they said I had to do a certificate 4 even though I did a certificate 3 which is equivalent money grabbing, trying to charge me for a free course
Building Design - STAY CLEAR. You'll be rushed through at best, 9 week terms the last week reserved for resubmissions for up to 4 units at a time.nnYour learning will be primarily focused on passing assessments at the expense of in depth learning teachers have admitted to this, in writing no less.nnAs a result, the benchmark is low. Sure, it won't be overly difficult to pass assessment items, but you won't learn much, which won't stand you in good stead for your future career.nnThe newly appointed FT lead teacher was the least favoured teacher of past students, due to energy levels that barely reach readable human levels. On top of this, the majority of this teachers classes are made up of recordings of a former teacher.nnAnd, you'll get to take part of all of this in one of the most dull, uninspiring, decades-old buildings, despite there being some wonderful architectural alternatives on campus.nnFinally just like other reviews, the administration of the school is horrendously inadequate.nnI left 1.5 years into the course, along with three others half way through and one student who was 6 months in - we all went to another university.nnYou've been warned.nnThe industry knows this course at VU is in a state of worsening decay - do yourself a favour and go elsewhere - there are loads of better alternatives.nn*edit added 18/4/24*nOn checking HELP/VSL balance, I've discovered VU has also claimed 2024 course fees, despite having not studied at VU in 2024. It seems the lack of integrity isn't only apparent in learning and assessment, but applies equally to its fiscal conduct. I am not the only former student to whom they have done this, either.
