We came here for date night. We got a table facing the river which was nice. We ordered the eggplant chips for entree which was delicious. We ordered lamb shank risotto and seafood spaghetti which tasted authentic. Do save some room for dessert, the self saucing chocolate pudding was divine. Would definitely come back here again!
Spring weekend lunch - wanted a place with a view & ideal for work & leisure !!! Good food but very slow grumpy girls at work - smiling back to customers is not their thing!! Dined inside then ordered my drinks from the courtyard/ balcony. Enjoyed my peace and quiet as customers would come and just walk away. Besides the waiters being aloof, a little TLC would work magic to improve the ambiance. Ideally a very good spot if only........ lots need to go in to make it popular again!! Anywho, I needed to smash-up some work backlog and the quietness in this place worked in my favor
Warm, easy and friendly service. A relaxed, tidy and comfortable venue perfect place for a meal with a view of the yarra river, close to the melbourne cbd and attractions, good sample of More than decent italian food melbourne was and is still associated with. Pricing is reasonable for the Southgate precinct. It continues to impress guests with kids from interstate. The gnocchi was pillowy, the mushroom risotto not undercooked and full of shroomy goodness. the calamari dish was generous. The rucolla salad could be improved with being a little less tart and using fresh sliced pears instead. this one of the few restaurants at southgate that has withstood the decades! i wish it the best and hope it stays with melbourne for decades to come. ps delicious gelatos here too.
We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary with our family and had a lovely meal in a lovely location. The food was excellent and staff also, who were very attentive to us without us having to look for attention at any time. The front of house girls were well presented, courteous and professional at all times. We had a lovely family dinner with a beautiful view over the river. It is well located. Parking: There are several public carparks nearby within easy walking distance.
We needed a quick dinner prior to seeing Phantom at the Arts Centre. We had often walked past Tutto Bene and thought it looked great, and being fans of all things Italian, we gave it a go for dinner! The indoor space of the restaurant is nice, quite open and welcoming. The outdoor space needs a revamp - it seemed a little dirty and tired. In fact, perhaps all the tables/chairs could be replaced, it just lacks the OOMPH required for a restaurant to make you want to come back or recommend to your friends. We were surprised to see not one pizza on the menu. For an Italian restaurant, this is unheard of. The food we ordered shared a large calamari, I had duck arancini and my husband had the sardines was tasty. We decided on entrees as we thought it would be quicker - which it was - but the pasta and risotto around us also looked good. Although we had quite a wait to get a staff member's attention to order, we told our eventual waitress who barely seemed to understand English multiple times that we HAD to leave by a certain time, to make it in time to our show... and our meals arrived promptly, so that was good. The beer was cold, a bonus on a hot night! The manager, who had taken us to our table, never returned with the sparkling water we ordered. Sadly, a reflection on the attention to detail of Tutto Bene. Would love to come back when they get their staffing right and give the place a bit of a spruce up, as it's in a great location and the chef clearly knows his stuff! Vegetarian options: There were a couple of salads and a pumpkin arancini that I remember seeing on the menu, and perhaps one pasta option too.
We had dinner for four yesterday evening to celebrate my brother-in-law’s birthday at this fine establishment. First time at Tutto Bene, and we’ll be back. Great venue, great staff and fabulous meals, we were all very impressed. And I have to say great value; can’t believe it’s our first time there. Add it to your list of favourite restaurants, highly recommended.
Well it was for my birthday so good feels to start with. Really glad I dined there that night. The two risottos we ordered were delicious, and of the same high quality I remember from last time dining there seven years earlier. And terrific attentive wait staff in Jesse and Leniency. I just wished there were more guests there for atmosphere on a mid-winter Friday night. It’s such a beautiful spot overlooking the Yarra and city through clear wall canopy, with cosy heating. Loved it.
We came here because its close proximity to the the state theatre as we were going to see Phantom of the Opera. The view was stunning the risottos were very good but the portions were ridiculously small. We had 2 risottos 1 beer and 2 wines and it cost $110 and walked away hungry. The place could do with a clean and the service was ok… will we go back? Probably not… no value for money
The food was pretty average for the price. Wait staff were very inattentive, we waited about 30min and had to wave down two waitresses just to get some salt and pepper for the table. Waited another 30min after our meals for someone to offer a dessert menu before we gave up and went elsewhere for ice cream.
Very very very disappointed restaurant to spend the New Years Eve night!! We have booked for the set menu outdoor seating for 3 people 160$/person started at 9 pm but no one come up to take our orders until 10 pm even for the drink we have to ask the waitress if she could takes our orders... they leave us sitting there like we are not exits!!! Not even care actually!! The first dish arrived at 10.30 pm that was for the entrée so we had to wait for the first dish to arrived more than 1/half hour and it was just a cheese broad!! The second was the main at 11.15 pm! We felt so hungry before the main arrived and the last dish was over midnight!! Very very poor management of the staffs and restaurant. They can do better than that for the set menu that they already arranged it for all of the customers at the New Years Eve night! Not enjoyable at all as we had to just have to wait for the staff to take an orders and wait for the meal from the kitchen that they can prepare it in advance for the set menu!! Please don't choose this place for spending New Years Eve because you will leave this place very disappointed. Unprofessional for the restaurant that has such a good location and views.... If i could give less than 1 star i would. Terrible service and staffs aren't training properly. Highly not recommended!!!! Never and ever going back there cause i feel so disappointed. If it is not because i paid for the new years eve set menu in advance already i would have walked out. So upset!!!
