This was a wonderfully cozy lodge with friendly staff and guests. Clean comfortable suites reasonably priced, quiet and close to many attractions.  We hiked in a state park, boated a lake, climbed a mountain,  learned local stories, relaxed by a waterfall, swam in the pool, saw Lord of the Rings movie locations and had lots of family fun.

My parents stay every year and I joined them this year for Christmas, it is a nice place to relax, the spa is great, there are a few board games to play or take back to your room and play. Somebody pooped in the pool so they just shut the pool down until Friday when everybody leaves/new people come. 

Now, my parents accidentally left a present I had given them for Christmas, as my mum had put it out of the way so it didn’t get ruined. When she realised, she had called the Lodge and nothing had been handed in. The only people who enter the rooms after you leave are the cleaners - and then the new guests. Assuming the cleaners are any good, they should’ve seen the present (it wasn’t small) and handed it in. I would have given 5 stars if it weren’t for somebody’s dishonesty.

Weather was mostly wet but the complex remains usual high standard with attention to details and hospitality. Ongoing refurbishment continues on unit by unit over the past years.

Central to heaps of activities. Mint biking spot, with rad bikes along the river. Awesome fishing and an insane amount of foreign Fisherman in the season. Great base camp for tongariro jams, rafting, doing other spicy stuff. Very cool very nice

Loved the room, had an aircon, pool and spa just outside. Provided us with dishwasher as well as amazing views and lookouts just around the area making us miss it dearly as soon as we had to come back home
