Both my children have attending this school from Prep and enjoyed every moment. The school is set in beautiful surrounds with lots of wildlife. The teachers are nurturing, professional and dedicated. The students swim twice a week, have four specialist subjects in Japanese, Music, Art and HPE and go on camp every year from Year 2. There are also many extra events and activities for the students throughout the year including the Obstathon, Lip Sync Competition, variety talent shows and many more clubs in Robotics Drama, French, Running Training and Drones. My daughter has carried onto the high school at White Rock and found the transition very easy.
We moved from Melbourne with our 3 children, all young, the eldest starting school for the first time. We immediately new TAS would be the school that would suit our Family. We don't have any family support up here, so having a small community school feel was exactly what we needed. Our daughter slotted straight into Prep, with amazing ease and happiness, our son has since started Prep this year and now because the school has both a 3 year old Kindy Program and a 4 year old Kindy program we have been able to have our littlest start in the Kindy Program. The school has an amazing community feel with similar parents who don't have the family support network, the teachers are amazing, even the older year teachers, 5 & 6 take the time and effort to speak to us and the kids during pickup and drop off. The Junior head of school is very passionate and devoted to the school, and the School Principal Mr Srjroen is brilliant, my son's face lights up when he see's him in the grounds. We would also love the school to continue beyond Year 6 at Kewarra, maybe by the time my kids get to that point it will happen, fingers crossed.
TAS is such an amazing school. The teachers are wonderful and most have been there for years which to me indicates they are happy and dedicated. The class sizes are small - I think they have a maximum class size policy of 25 but most are less than that. I love that everything is included in the fees - like annual school camps from grade 2 upwards, iPads or Infinity Tablets or Laptops depending on the year level. They also have an hour of swimming lessons a week included, music and art lessons as well as lots of extra curricular activities at no extra charge. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful and the facilities are great. We have one child that has been there for 6 years and one that has been there for 4 years and our only disappointment is that they don’t have a secondary school at this campus.
We moved to Cairns in 2017 and my son and daughter attend TAS. TAS has been amazing academically, spiritually and behaviourally for my kids. My son has learning difficulties and TAS identified these, put a plan in place and he is now achieving beyond our expectations. Ms O'Keefe is an amazing teacher who looks at each child's strengths, focuses on holistic learning and brings out the best in each child. Our son and daughter also achieved amazing things sports wise as the school focuses on participation and doing the best you can and this encourages participation without fear or judgement. We can not be more proud of our children both academically and sports wise. We can not thank Ms O'Keefe and TAS enough for their support and remarkable achievements with our children. I would thoroughly recommend this school to anyone.
On the contrary to the post before, my family have nothing but positive comments about this beautiful community school. We are now entering our third child into the TAS schooling system and couldn’t be happier. The class sizes are small allowing all children’s strengths to be worked with and when required deficiencies be nutured and steered in a positive way. The teachers are amazing and respected by all, the grounds are immaculate and idealistic for learning. The TAS school results speak for themselves academically, but even if academics is not what you are searching for, this school sends our children out as respectable, polite caring young people. Something the world is truely missing. If you are looking for a beautiful, small community school with outstanding teachers TAS is second to none.
