I recently visited The Star Casino Gold Coast with a group of friends, and we had an amazing time! From the moment we walked in, the energy and atmosphere were buzzing. The casino floor is huge and well-maintained, with a great variety of games—everything from classic poker and blackjack tables to modern slot machines. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, there’s something for everyone.nnWhat really stood out to me was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly and helpful, especially when we had questions about how certain games worked. Security was present but not intrusive, and everything felt very safe and well-organized.nnWe also grabbed dinner at one of the restaurants inside, and the food exceeded expectations. There’s a nice mix of dining options, from casual bites to more upscale meals. The cocktails were great too—perfect for unwinding between games.nnAfter spending some time at the tables, we explored the rest of the venue and even ended the night at one of the bars with live music. The vibe was vibrant without being too loud or overwhelming, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the night.nnParking was easy, and the location is super convenient—just a short ride from Surfers Paradise. Overall, The Star offers more than just a casino experience—it’s a full night out with entertainment, food, and fun all under one roof.nnHighly recommend visiting if you’re on the Gold Coast, whether you’re into gaming or just looking for a fun night with friends. We’ll definitely be going back again!
Our recent stay at The Star Gold Coast was, in a word, frustrating. What was meant to be a relaxing family getaway turned into a string of disappointments, all of which highlighted one simple truth: they don’t care about their hotel guests — they care about making money from the casino.nnWe were notified just 36 hours before check-in that the main pool would be closed for three months for maintenance — something they obviously knew weeks in advance. Instead of giving us a fair chance to reschedule or make alternative plans, they conveniently waited until the last minute to break the news. Their repeated reassurance that “there’s another pool available” was laughable — there’s only one alternative pool, and it was so overcrowded you could barely get a seat, let alone enjoy it with a toddler.nnRoom service was a mess — we ordered twice, and both times they forgot items. No urgency to correct it, just disinterest.nnHousekeeping? Non-existent. Despite having the green “service” light on nearly the entire day aside from our toddler’s 2-hour nap, and telling reception twice in person that we were heading out and the room was free to clean, we returned at 7:30pm to find nothing done — no towels, no fresh linen, no cleaned room. When we raised it again, instead of simply apologising, staff tried to gaslight us, claiming we had the Do Not Disturb light on. This was not only untrue, but completely dismissive of the fact that we’d spoken to them directly earlier in the day to confirm the green light was on.nnTo top it off, staff ignored our Do Not Disturb sign earlier in the stay, knocking on the door and ringing the bell — waking up our 18-month-old. Anyone travelling with a toddler knows what a disaster that is.nnWe also ate at one of the on-site restaurants. Food was decent, but service was again poor. Other tables were seated after us and had their orders taken well before us. It felt like we were invisible.nnTo add to it all, I am heavily pregnant, and this stay caused unnecessary stress during what should have been a relaxing time for our family. We are not the type to leave bad reviews or complain, but the sheer amount of issues — and the way staff handled them — left us with no choice. The lack of basic service, poor communication, and total disregard for guest comfort is unacceptable.nnUltimately, The Star isn’t interested in being a great hotel — they’re interested in being a cash machine, fuelled by casino profits. Guests are clearly not the priority. Behind the shiny exterior and marketing buzzwords is a hotel that simply doesn’t deliver on basic hospitality.nnNever again.nnI will end with a positive note though - we checked out ASAP and got a refund for the remainder of the stay. We booked into the Sheraton Grand Mirage very last minute highly recommend - if you’d like a great resort with great service.
Cyclone Alfred, cancellation Flooded Rooms.nnAfter a rocky, experience booking through Luxury Escapes, who are utterly useless. The STAR stepped up, and excelled, stayed in the Executive Suite more than enough room and luxury with balcony views. Service was fantastic, room turned down every day, complimentary breakfast every day, complimentary use of Executive lounge. It's rare these days to find great customer service, but all my requests promptly and professionally attended to. Hats off to the Amazing Concierge Team and Reception Manager most helpful . Proper 5 star Hotel Professionalism all round.
My wife and I stayed at The Star Grand for one night while attending an event, and overall it was an excellent experience. From check-in to check-out, the service was fantastic — professional, welcoming and efficient. We had originally booked an Executive Deluxe King Room but were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a Club Suite. The suite was immaculate, spacious and offered spectacular views. It was definitely one of the highlights of our stay.nnUnfortunately, we missed out on trying the included hotel breakfast. We arrived at 9:00 AM to find a queue stretching out of the restaurant and decided not to wait. Instead, we went to the JW Marriott nearby, which had an incredible breakfast buffet and worth every cent.nnDespite that, the overall experience at The Star Grand was excellent. I'd happily stay again, maybe just a little earlier for breakfast next time.
Great service from the team at The Star Gold Coast Casino. I stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time exploring the grounds and surrounds of The Star. The Casino is vibrant and exciting. There are many -laces to have a drink, a cocktail, a nibble, a spa. It just keeps giving. The areas around the Casino are an excellent place to people watch.
