The photos of the Great Ponsonby Hotel looked amazing but in reality the photographer who took the photos should win an award. The property is outdated, it smelt musty and the rooms are tiny compared to other properties of similar price. Far too expensive for the quality received. The owner Patrick gave us the runaround in regards to a refund and I ended up out of pocket $250 and nothing I can do about it. I do not recommend staying here!

We were there in 2001. It was fantastic then and we think of going back to New Zealand just to go to the Great Ponsonby.

Old run down boarding house type accommodation.
