I ordered the 250g steak and my wife ordered the lamb shank with a strawberry daiquiri. Both dishes were so fresh, salads great, chips hot and tasty and meat was cooked perfectly! BUT Unfortunately the lamb sauce was less of an addition to the dish and the flavour overwhelmed the plate. As well as the steaks seasoning. Both took away from the beautiful meat. Otherwise would definitely return.
Cannot speak highly enough of Ben and the whole team at the Dockyard. It was my birthday and I had arranged dinner and drinks at honeysuckle social, that was a god awful experience and we got pushed out before we had even had dinner. The dockyard fit us in at a moments notice, with a huge table for our big group. The cocktails were delicious and came out super fast. The food was amazing, again we waited minimal time. The service was friendly, welcoming and attentive. The whole experience was 11/10. Will recommend dockyard to everyone! Especially for birthday parties and large groups
Can't fault this place. Great location. We had a booking for 2pm and just ate and drank the afternoon away. Food is great. Tapas yum. Margaritas are awesome.
$30 for a very salty steak and cold chips that took 40+ minutes to come out wasn't great. We were on a big table so I can appreciate that a lot of meals at once take time, but to then get that was pretty disappointing. I have no clue how long the chips were sitting on the plate before the rest of it was plated up, but it was definitely a while. The veggies were cooked nicely and I enjoyed those, and that was about all I enjoyed. The steak was also cooked the way I asked, but as noted was just too salty, even after I scraped off as much of the also-salty sauce as I could. I would have said something there but at no point during or after the meal did any server ask us how anything was, even when clearing my mostly full plate.
We celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary here last night. Was such a great atmosphere and the food was excellent. Chocolate brownies a real winner. And a complementary free drink to help celebrate was much appreciated. Will definitely go back.
Food are very nice. The lamb shank was yum and I love the sweet potato wedges.
The drinks were alright but we told after we got there that there was only one person in the kitchen. Took about an hour to receive our food. Which I found out the $30 schnitzel parmigiana I ordered tasted tasted like vomit, either was really undercooked or overcooked not sure which one. I assumed I was making it up due to having a few drinks before it arrived and potentially I was 'too buzzed' to notice the taste mixed with the cocktails. I Reheated the plenty of leftovers the next day and still tasted equally awful. Go for the atmosphere, not the food!
We had lunch with friends yesterday and I must say the whole experience was wonderful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food and service was everything I wanted it to be. We will be back for more.
Do yourself a favour WALK PAST We were regulars at the Dockyard Restaurant in Newcastle with the previous owners as always a great meal. Today was extremely disappointing the food standard was very poor. We won’t be back.
My husband and I, we always go to Newcastle when we visit family in Australia. We love this bar. it's our favourite. Great food & friendly staff.
