My husband and I went to Coal and Cedar in Newcastle last weekend for a whisky tasting, and it was awesome! The bar itself has such a cool, cozy vibe—perfect for a night out. Brandy, our whisky guide, was fantastic. She really knew her stuff and made the whole experience super fun and interesting. She explained each whisky in a way that was easy to understand, and you could tell she’s really passionate about what she does. If you’re into whisky or just looking for a great place to chill, I definitely recommend checking out Coal and Cedar. We had a blast and can’t wait to go back! Vegetarian options: The staff provided plant based options for our charcuterie board.
One of my new favourite bar in Newcastle. Love everything. The hidden bar is so awesome. The bar is located behind a door next to a barber shop, without any sign, so if you find it you feel so amazing. The cozy environment made us feel special and warm. The bartender was very friendly and skilled. The cocktails were great and we could call something off menu as well. We tried Ramos Gin Fizz which was off menu and it tasted amazing. They offered us a free green olive dish as well to pair with the drinks. Plenty of street parking nearby. Will definitely come back.
Walking into this hidden oasis brings a sense on belonging. Warmly welcomed by the fantastic Reeve, I cannot express the amount of wonderful and insane service here. On arrival I asked for a creative cocktail from Ryan and Reeve and they did NOT disappoint. If you are ever looking for a night for friends, good vibes and entertainment coal and cedar is the pace for you.

You will not easily find this place, but it is a speakeasy after all! Once the hidden door opens however, you will be glad you did. A cool vibe in this place with excellent food and super knowledgeable mixologist who will create a drink on the fly that suits your personal taste perfectly. Visiting from the USA so it was also nice to see our flag on the wall!
Located behind a hidden entrance we were greeted by friendly staff and they continued up great service until the wee hours of the morning. The cocktails were all bespoke, each one better than the last. Give your bar tender an idea on what you like and they returned with magic in a cup. Well done to the staff and the owners . Well worth a visit.

You gotta go. The drinks are divine. The staff are friendly and welcoming. And the house made Chili bitters, will blow your head off... but worth it! Literally the best speakeasy I've been to in years!Food: 5/5

Great little hidden bar...need to send a text to the establishment for door to be opened. Great Amaretto. Definitely recommend. Complimentary olives with our drink. Located on main road, parking a short walk. Kid-friendliness: Not for children Wheelchair accessibility: Not at front entrance.
