If you’re looking for an excellent quality dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere the you can’t go past The Dispensary Coffee Kitchen Bar in Wood St Mackay.nTouches of European, art deco and every area invites more investigation yep I’ll need to come back several times for different meals to soak it all in.nThe food is delish and impeccably presented and the service friendly, helpful and professional.nGod I’m glad I followed my gut.nYou won’t regret it.nBellisimo
Went to The Dispensary for breakfast and oh my goodness — the food was absolutely bloody amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The service was exceptional too — friendly, fast, and made the whole experience such a pleasure. Couldn’t fault a thing — highly recommend!
Food was great, had both cheese burger and chicken burger. The burgers were great, the chips though; they were the star, haven't had such good hot chips in a long time.nService was great, with friendly staff.nId definitely go back.
Great iced coffee. We knew we were on to something with the gym crowd enjoying their food and drinks outside when we first entered. Chef created a delightfully yummy well presented breakfast of mushrooms and greens, pickled onions and goat cheese on GF toast. The dish just kept on giving. Just the perfect retreat for those needing the comfort of the cool and nourishment.
First night out in Mackay and we were hoping for a great dining experience. Unfortunately, it fell well short of expectations.nnThe staff were exemplary—friendly, attentive, and clearly doing the best they can with what they’re given. This is not a reflection on them at all.nnHowever, for a restaurant experience, the food and presentation were only marginally better than McDonald’s. Paper napkins, pre‑cut bacon pieces served with oysters and scallops, and cold focaccia bread with dip showed a real lack of attention to detail. These are small things, but they matter—especially when you’re paying for a sit‑down dining experience.nnI understand this is Mackay, but that shouldn’t excuse basics being overlooked. A little care and pride costs nothing, no matter who the customer is.nnWe also tried the bar and wouldn’t recommend it—no air‑conditioning on, which made it uncomfortable and uninviting.nnTo be clear, the staff were lovely, but you can only work with the standards and resources you’re given. The issues here are clearly operational, not people-related.nnDisappointing overall, and not somewhere we’d rush back to unless improvements are made.
