I have been visiting this cemetery since 1982 when a group of Italian men volunteered to maintain the grounds. It was an immaculate show peice back then, but over the years, standards have diminished. Now, people are paid to maintain the same grounds, and they don't care. I've seen a gardner ride over plaques, and I have personally had to call for repairs to my parents' grave. At one stage, there was a deep hole at the head end of their grave. I'm sure someone would have seen it but never bothered fixed it until I complained. I frequently visit to make sure that it's not just me that respects their grave.
Went to visit my father's grave and was saddened to see the condition of this cemetery has gone downhill. Current caretakers are atrocious. Grass around loved ones plaques are almost growing over them as a solitary lady tries her best to keep her husband's head stone from being grown over with grass. Do they even care? Don't even know how the caretakers of this cemetery can sleep at night. This isn't how our loved ones should be remembered.
The cremation area is stunning and well laid out with fountains and brick work. There is also seating in the area.
I have to say that all negative reviews about the condition of the Cemetery have to consider the circumstances of the times during.. COVID19 for 2+ years! Everyone!!!... was locked down including caretakers, gardeners etcnWhen I visited, I was heart broken as well to see the state the lawn was in, but I knew it was everywhere, even households etc.nPlease respect the caretakers, gardeners, that had their hands tied!.. not their fault!nI did my best to pretty up the lawn grave of my Mother's and Brother's site, although I found my Brother's plaque to be missing, thought stolen from vandals or?.. as found that strange, who would want that!... the office was closed naturally and after a few days lock down then continued again.. nobody could be contacted or do anything anyway at that time.nI went to lay flowers earlier this year, the caretakers were hard at it and grounds were looking good, I felt relieved except for the missing plaque of my Brother. So, spoke to the caretaker named Jessie .. she came and investigated the site to see what could possibly have happened.. soon, the genius found it by immersing an implement into the ground.. hitting a metal sound.. it was my Brothet's plaque!.. Fabulous!!..it was covered in dirt from 2.5 years of winds blown over it. My joy and relief was enormous.. my gratitude for Jessie helping me and being so gracious, empathetic and understanding to take the time to solve my heartache was so much appreciated!!.nnSo please!!! Remember what.. everyone... was going through during lockdown.. not just yourselves!nThank you again Jessie.. great work!
Visiting my Fathers plot in the wall & 2 relatives graves l was dismayed at the state of the cemetery.nUnkempt gardens, debris over nameplates, many untrimmed plants & the condition of the non functioning fountain was terrible.nAfter heading down to the lawn section, I had to wipe away dead off cuts of grass from nameplates to find my relatives graves.nThere were numerous nameplates at differing angles due to coming away from whatever the plate is adhered to.nSo sad to see peoples last resting places being in such disrepair!
