Have bought their frozen food from online grocery stores and really liked them. This was our first time dining in. The soup dumplings were good! But the veggies, beef and rice cakes were way too oily and greasy…
We came on a very busy night so there was a bit of a wait for our mains to arrive. I was also quite frustrated by the fact the adjacent table received their full order before us despite the fact that had arrived 5-10 minutes later. There’s really no excuse for this and not a good look. However, despite all that the food itself was divine. The dumplings were juicy and packed a punch whilst the fried rice and prawn noodle dish were flavourful. The waiters also shouted us a couple of refreshing drinks which I thought was a nice touch to make up for probably a bit of disorganisation in the kitchen.
An alright meal at Taste of Shanghai. The food came out quick after we ordered. We got the xia long bao and the pan fried buns. These were good and paired well with vinegar. The braised pork was saucy and savoury. The fried rice and vegetables were fine. The bamboo shoots were just ok and were not too fresh. However, we did find the portions to be quite small. Moreover, the food came at random intervals. For instance we got the braised pork as our first dish and the bamboo last which should be an entree dish. There are also better Shanghainese restaurants around like in Ashfield.
This place is no longer called taste of shanghai because they are not part of the franchisee anymore. The menu they use still says taste of shanghai though, but the food has changed. The xiao long baos here are still good but think their steamed vegetarian dumplings are now westernized. The staff here are very polite and nice.
Situated inside World Square. Experience Shanghainese flavours traditional dishes in the heart of the city. Decked in dark wooden tables and chairs couple with traditional chinese decor. One of the better Shanghainese restaurants that offer ample choices of dishes.
Fantastic tasting food! The pork buns are a must try! Over flowing with sweet savory meat juices that leave you wanting for more! Quick and efficient service! Be sure to arrive early before the peak meal times!
The place was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived at around 7pm and it didn’t take long for us to get a table straight away. All food however came out after approximately 20 minutes of wait. The steamed barramundi in soy sauce was delicious and tender with balanced of flavours. Same with the stir fried pak choy with mushroom. Service is a bit slow as only 2 floor staffs so it can be better hence for the 4 stars rating.
Very good food with authentic taste. Service was on point as well and food was ready in less than 15min! GreatFood: 5/5
Two different kinds of dumplings and a beer. Service was a bit confused but the food was good which was the main reason for dropping in. This still feels like the best food of all the restaurants in the chain...
$31 for 1/3 a container of lamb with no vegetables in sight. Was very oily, so was rice. Soup dumplings were delicious. Stick to dumplings.
