Having opened it's doors in 1981, The Tandoor Indian Restaurant is the oldest continuously operating Indian restaurant in Australia! Come enjoy our food!

Story

The Tandoor Indian Restaurant has received positive notices in The Herald Sun, The Age Good Food Guide, MIETTA’s Eating & Drinking Guide, the 3AW Good Food Guide, Lonely Planet and many more awards besides. Of course, the tandoor at The Tandoor is the star of the show, but that isn’t to denigrate the other delicacies that are on offer at this Prahran restaurant. Their curry selection is extensive as well, with all the usual Indian favourites – and a couple of house specialities as well – and a huge range of fish curries that are lesser seen in the Melbourne area. In fact, the only thing you might struggle to find at The Tandoor is a table: so make sure you book one in advance!

Food is always amazing, staff are friendly, service is quick. We only have Indian from here now and the friends we share with are always impressed. I can't recommend highly enough. Thanks The Tandoor.

Amazing food and very attentive staff. The owner made an effort to come out and chat to me and my partner and give us a history on their family business. He was so sweet and we had loads of laughs. It was a delightful dining experience, food was so good and service ensured that we will definitely go back.

Hands down the BEST Indian I have had. The food was simply delicious, every dish was as good at the last. And the staff were so wonderful. Definitely my new FAV place to eat!

That. Was. Amazing!! I didn't realise I lived so close to an Indian restaurant which has such a fine touch when it comes to preparing food with incredibly distinct flavours. Such a beautiful atmosphere. The service was amazing and the friendly banter between the staff and us made us feel very welcomed. Will definitely be returning.
