Tanabe Japanese Restaurant

We live nearby and have been here four or five times over the last few years and each time it has been wonderful. If not for having another Japanese restaurant closer to where we live, we would be here all the time. The food is all so fresh, beautifully presented and prepared so carefully. We were back last night and while some reviewers have said they think it is expensive here, I completely disagree. We always share lots of things so it can bring the price up. Having said that, the total came to $79.00 for three people and everything was perfect. No complaints here! The staff are also absolutely lovely. The only thing that may bother some is the amount of time between serving the next menu item. However, we found the timing made sense - you won’t feel rushed here. The decor is in need of a revamp, as is the signage but the warm hospitality and delicious food make up for this. Would 100% recommend to anyone searching for Japanese in the bayside area.

Great little Japanese restaurant. Quality of the food was very good, everything was fresh and served hot. Staff where dressed in what appeared as traditional Japanese outfits and provided great service through out the evening. Some would say that the restaurant's day core could possibly do with a bit of a refresher, but I felt it somehow added to the theme and atmosphere of the place. Value for money was also great, for $267, we feed 4 adults and 2 kids which included drinks.

A true Japanese restaurant. The food presentation and taste are excellent. Fish in my sushi and tempura was very fresh. Updated: freshened menu, but still the same quality.

Great little japanese restaurant. Seafood is so fresh, just melts in your mouth. Tempura is beautiful, batter is so light. Highly recommend.
