Great public hospital, most staff were great . Thanks for looking after me on my long stay. YEAR 2020nnI broke my foot very badly. They looked after me amazingly well, even when it was super busy. Also had many weeks of physio here . Year 2021nnI had an iron infusion at Tamworth Base Hospital the other day, and the service was just like a private hospital. It was well looked after. Year Nov 2023nnJust had day surgery at Tamworth Base Hospital. The hospital staff and doctors are amazing and couldn't believe the extra nice touch of warm blankets.nA huge thank you again! July 2024
Well never have I witnessed such a wonderful gathering of social butterflies as I did today with the staff of this so called hospital. All they seemed to be doing was chattering at the nurses station laughing just having a great time. All bloody day I waited only 2 nurses spoke to me shoved a dose of panadol at me and left me to sit occasionally maybe 30 minutes or an hour later realising they had a job to do would they get someone seen to. Today along with past experiences is why unless it's crucial I will do whatever else I can before going to that hospital. Even telling them I could no longer stay all I got was a grunt that they'd let the doctors know where they proceeded to walk away. I had more acknowledgement support and care from a lady in the car park when she saw me crying and limping back to my car.
I'm in the emergency room now. I had a blood test here on Thursday due to severe stomach pain. They said I had a gallbladder problem and asked me to stay at the hospital Friday morning for other tests. The hospital told me that the report results would be out soon. I waited until Friday afternoon and still had no results. The nurse in the ward had a very bad attitude and even pulled out my infusion tube, saying it was no longer needed! I also feel okay because I really don’t feel that much pain anymore and I don’t vomit anymore! The doctor came to me this morning and told me that my blood pressure and blood tests were normal, and there was no problem with the B-ultrasound. I was so happy at the time, I thought I could go home! I asked the doctor if I could be discharged! He actually replied I don’t know! We need to discuss it againBecause my English is not good, I also asked the nurse to note whether there can be an interpreter when the doctor comes! The result is nothing. Only a nurse named Tina from Canada discovered the problem. Why didn’t the doctor come with an interpreter? Nurse Tina was very proactive in helping me make an appointment for an interpreter today. She also kept sending messages asking the doctor to come again, hoping that I could translate through it. I had a better understanding of my current condition, and it turned out that the visiting doctor was not the attending doctor, but another doctor. The visiting doctor was very friendly at first, but he became impatient until he opened my case and made no notes. He also asked me if I wanted to be discharged. Why not let your doctor know? If you said it, why didn‘t he write it?nLater the doctor said you could be discharged, but you had to sign a disclaimer to ensure that any future problems had nothing to do with the hospital. I can live with this. I also asked for a doctor's note that I could go back to work. When I needed to fill in the date when I could go back to work, he became more aggressive and started shirk responsibility and not write. I thought to myself, if you don’t write down the date, it will be useless for me to be discharged from the hospital. I just want to get back to work. I don't want to have to deal with them always answering I don't know, and I get irritated listening to the nurses discuss my stuff these days. They would ask me why I was here when I was fine. I also want to ask you why you didn’t let me leave the hospital when I was fine.
This is the worst hospital in Australia. The staff treat you like you shouldn't be there. The doctor ignores your request to speak to them.nThey decline U pain meds Evan if Ur curled in a ball and can't move.nWhy would you let anyone suffer like that.nThis is not my first time having trouble with this hospital they are judgement and stuck up if I had a choice I would not go back there
Absolutely disgraceful ‘basic care’ given to my father after a hip replacement In surgical ward 2. The nurses didn’t put compression socks on him didn’t bathe him for days. Was constantly given the wrong medication. Got a cough while on the ward. Never questioned about it or looked after. I was gaslighted by the ‘nurse Joanne ’ when I wanted some answers about these things. The nurse I saw when she was giving him the neuro check after surgery gave an extremely detailed description on what she had for lunch but couldn’t even complete the questionnaire and recognise that the patient in-front of her was in pain and was trying to explain the answers she was asking. She was also asking if he was my husband and then kept laughing at the idea I would be with an old man, even after saying he is my father. It was all so unprofessional. It was embarrassing. I hope this helps other people and help family members to be more aware of how your loved ones are being treated.nThis will be taken further as I don’t want others to feel this.
