I would like to leave a review on here to let this hospital know that there will be a offical complaint made. My partner drove 12 hour's to visit his Brother who had only day's to live. After an altercation with a family member not being at this hospital decided to let nurses and Security guard's know that he wasn't allowed to visit his own Brother. My partner arrived at the hospital absolutely devasted and just wanted to say Goodbye which never occurred due to a RN who's name I won't mention also the Security guards whose name's we won't mention.nAs a result my Partner never got to see his Brother or to say Goodbye. This isn't just devastating and sad but absolutely disgraceful on the way my partner was treated. How has any staff at this hospital got the right to refuse a patient who is Terminal a visit from their Brother who's driven 12 hour's to say Goodbye.nAn official complaint has now been made. This situation will be discussed on the Social media.
I can't thank the team in the Cardiac Care Unit enough for the exceptional care I received during my recent admission. From the moment I arrived until the day I was discharged, everyone treated me with genuine kindness, compassion, professionalism, and respect.nThe doctors, nurses, and support staff are nothing short of extraordinary. Their dedication, warmth, and unwavering commitment, made an anxious time for me so much easier. They consistently went above and beyond, and it was clear that they genuinely care.nI simply can't speak highly enough of the remarkable team or this outstanding hospital. It's an absolute credit to the Sunshine Coast community and an invaluable asset. Thank you all for my care and the incredible work you do, making a real difference in people's lives every single day.
I just had the most incredible experience at Sunshine Coast Public Hospital. From the moment we arrived, the front nurse welcomed us with genuine warmth and care. Brianna provided thoughtful and attentive assistance, making sure we felt supported every step of the way.nNurse Liam de Jong delivered the most thorough, compassionate, and professional care I’ve ever experienced in a public hospital. The way he took the time to explain everything clearly and thoughtfully truly stood out and made me feel completely at ease.nA huge thank you to these hardworking individuals for making the entire experience smooth, efficient, and genuinely positive.
I would like to provide feedback regarding an interaction I recently had with a receptionist at Sunshine Coast Hospital on the 9th of May 2026 at 5.03 pm Ward 3B.nnI approached reception to politely ask whether they knew of any accommodation or access options they could recommend for people staying near the hospital while supporting family or friends admitted there. During this interaction, I found the receptionist to be rude and very sarcastic. I was asked, “Do you have Google?” in a dismissive manner rather than being offered assistance or guidance.nnI understand hospital staff can be under pressure, however I feel that in an environment where many people are stressed, emotional, and supporting seriously ill loved ones, compassion and respectful communication are extremely important. Reception staff are often the first point of contact for families and visitors, and a pleasant and supportive attitude can make a significant difference during difficult times.nnAt the Brisbane hospital, accommodation information and nearby services are often readily available for families and patients, including details of accommodation providers that offer discounted rates for people receiving treatment. If Sunshine Coast Hospital does not already have a similar system in place, I strongly believe it would be beneficial to implement one, especially for elderly patients and family members who may not be confident using the internet or searching online themselves.nnI also believe the receptionist involved would benefit from further customer service training, particularly in relation to empathy, communication, and assisting vulnerable or distressed members of the public appropriately.nnI sincerely hope no other families or visitors experience additional stress, upset, or heartache from being treated in this manner when they are already going through extremely difficult and emotional circumstances.nnMy father who is waiting for surgery is currently in that Ward and I can honestly say after that interaction with the staff member I absolutely do not feel confident leaving him at the hospital and will request for him to be transferred to Brisbane or Gold Coast hospital where they has supportive, empathetic and reassuring staff.nnI hope this feedback is taken constructively and used to improve the experience for patients and families attending the hospital.
I understand that long waiting times are expected in a busy Emergency Department and this is not my primary concern. My concern is that throughout my assessment I felt unheard, and that my concerns and circumstances were repeatedly dismissed.nnThis began with the first doctor I saw early this morning. I was advised to use a walker due to my symptoms. I explained that I am still working and that using a walker is not practical in my job. My concern did not appear to be acknowledged, and the next doctor recommendation was crutches. Again, my comments about maintaining employment and the limitations this creates were largely dismissed. I was left feeling as though my only options presented were to use mobility aids and to consider early retirement.nnI also repeatedly explained that while the severe increase in pain occurred after slipping on a puddle in the bathroom, I did not fall. My leg slipped outward, causing severe shooting pain, but importantly, the hip pain itself has been progressively worsening over many months. I had to repeat this several times, but I felt the longer-term deterioration was not adequately considered.nnDuring the consultation, I recall being told that fractures improve over time; however, this did not address my repeated concern that my mobility has significantly deteriorated over recent weeks. I explained that I now struggle to get into a car and often have to lift my leg with my hands.nnI was also advised not to drive. Again, this recommendation did not seem to consider that I am currently working and need to travel to and from work.nnIn addition, I was prescribed Oxycodone PRN up to four times daily. Again this does not reflect my circumstances to drive safely to and from work. Taking Oxycodone during the day while driving and working due to the risk of drowsiness.nnI also felt that decisions about my suitability for hip replacement were made very quickly, with recommendations focused on physiotherapy and hydrotherapy without fully considering the extent of my functional limitations. I explained that I can barely lift my leg in any direction without using my hands.nnOverall, I left feeling that my concerns were not genuinely listened to, my individual circumstances were not taken into account, and no meaningful plan was offered beyond measures that are currently not realistic or acceptable for my situation.
