Story

Suk Jai Thai Restaurant is the only Thai restaurant in Whangarei which has received the prestigious "Thai Select" Award from the Thai Prime Minister in March 2013.

Thai Select is an award to certify and recognise Thai restaurants outside Thailand which serve authentic Thai cuisine of the highest standard. We are proud to be one of the few Thai restaurants which are deemed worthy of this award.

We are the Thai restaurant which received the highest rating among all Thai restaurants in Whangarei on www.tripadvisor.com (as at June 2014 we are the #1 best Asian restaurant, #1 best Thai restaurant, and #2 best restaurant in Whangarei).

The staff were quick to clear and clean our table just as the previous customers were leaving it. The staff were focused on ensuring all customers had their needs met and staff communication was good. The food was delivered quickly and was absolutely delicious. There was a good selection of beverages, alcoholic and non alcoholic, that went well with our food. The outdoor area was brightly decorated and the music was relaxing. Highly recommend for people who want a delicious and no fuss meal experience. Thank you to all of the staff for the experience   Kid-friendliness: The staff addressed children directly and kindly when taking their order.

What a wonderful experience. The service was amazing, calm, friendly, positive, professional and fast. The food and delivery was divine also. We had a mango smoothie and a strawberry smoothie but delicious and also entrees, Chicken Pad Thai and the Sizzling plate. Book in early because it was packed and busy all the time. We will definitely be back! I have eaten in many Thai restaurants all over NZ this is the best one. The only on that may come close is in Palmerton North. We eat here often and the food is always the same standard eat in or take away.  Food is fantastic and staff are too. Highly recommend

First time I have been there and went with a friend and its thier fave! Had the Prawns and Vegetables in peanut sauce! Great sized prawns and the sauxe was on point!! Friendly service and the Tom Kha was delicious too!!!  Highly Recommended!

I've been to Thailand. This restaurant could be in the middle of Bangkok.  The food is spot on, the service is exceptional, and the restaurant is vibrant.   Like Bangkok, the outside of the restaurant tells you nothing about the inside. The outside looks bland or stripmall-like.  The inside is cute and welcoming.  I've struggled with being gluten-free in New Zealand.  SukJai is the first place I've eaten here that had gluten-free choices on the menu.  If you have food restrictions, this place can handle you.  Highly recommended.

Thai food one of the best, recommendable to friends.

This was an unplanned stop , but we weren't at all disappointed! The restaurant is well presented , with indoor and outdoor sheltered tables . Efficient and well mannered staff , and great tasty  food . Would certainly visit again .Food: 5/5

I've struggled with being gluten-free in New Zealand.  SukJai is the first place I've eaten here that had gluten-free choices on the menu.  If you have food restrictions, this place can handle you.  Highly recommended.
