Beautiful little Chapel that is the oldest building within the castle. The stain glass windows are very colourful despite their diminutive size. Lovely the way the afternoon sunlight floods through to show them at their best. The simple alter is also perfectly fitting. Would be a great pity not to look in if your in the castle.
Amazing chapel in the castle grounds worth a quick visit while on site
A beautiful, simple chapel in the heart of Edinburgh Castle. I fell in love with it! A quiet serene place in the middle of a busy city, you can feel the history. We were there in Jan this year, so even in winter it was amazing :
St Margarets chapel is a small simple building on the northern edge of the Castle and is a memorial for Margaret who was the mother of King David , strange to think its over 900 years old but has survived sieges and bombardments that have destroyed other areas of the castle such as the long vanished Davids Tower
No idea whose wedding this was but couldn't resist a couple of pics whilst on our visit to Edinburgh castle. What a fantastic day!
Quite a small chapel but it has a lot of history and key small details to surprise those looking for them. The glass stained windows and chairs truly make it feel like your in the moment as well as the magnificent little gardens outside too. An amazing chapel for all ages.
This quaint and cozy chapel was the highlight of my trip to the Edinburgh Castle. Built in to the 12th century, it amazingly still stands beautifully atop The Edinburgh Castle. Having survived the wars and years of weather for roughly 1000 years, there is such a peace and delicateness inside this tiny chapel. It is truly amazing.
A beautiful early, stone Scottish Chapel. It was built in the 12th century and King David I named it after his mother. It has five stained-glass windows that were made by Douglas Strachan in 1922 and illustrate St. Margaret, St. Andrew, St. Columba, St. Ninian and William Wallace. A little gem that is worth experiencing.
Pretty little chapel.
Small little chapel with intricate stain glass windows. Set within the ground of Edinburgh Castle. Apparently you can get married here but the church only fits 25 people.
