South Steyne Floating Restaurant

Dining on the old ferry for lunch was a nice experience and something quite different from the usual run-of-the-mill Darling Harbour restaurants. The views from the windows are great and the interior feels like it has a bit of historical depth to it. The overall atmosphere was really nice... relaxing, not too noisy at least for weekend lunch, so overall it seemed like a nice place to chat and enjoy a reasonably valued meal. We were all very happy with the food. And we had a fantastic waitress, friendly and helpful.

We held our office Christmas lunch on board this year and everyone agreed it was one of our better decisions. Although on the day there was heavy rain we sat in our private room and felt very comfortable and the staff couldn't do enough for us! We thoroughly enjoyed the food - everyone agreed it couldn't have been better. We can't wait to return for another social night and hoping to try out the barbecue facilities in better weather. Well done South Steyne.

So, its late on a Sunday night at Darling Harbour and our group of 10 are hungry. Whenever I visit Sydney, the South Styne has always caught my eye with the well priced menu at the front. This time, I put away all the fancy bars and we decided to have a look, and we were really impressed with the atmosphere and the wait staff. I and 3 others in my group ordered the Boston Steak it was by far the best steak I have had in a restaurant since I can remember. The steak was cooked to perfection and so was the other guests. My wife had the Honey Chilli Prawns, there were too many for her to eat as the dish was huge and really tasty. The food came out quickly and all together so all 10 of us ate at the same time. Other people in my group had Pasta and some of the specials so we really tested all the other ranges of food and there was not one complaint. The chef got all 10 dishes to perfection and the staff were great throughout our whole meal. At the end of the meal the wait staff knowing it was our last night in Sydney really showed us customer service and I wont say what they did as I don't want to set a precedent but it was really appreciated by us all You guys know what you did and also satisfied my interest in the old ferry :. So from all of us many thanks to the Manager / Supervisor HANNAH and her staff especially the poor girl with the injured foot, you both including all the staff really made our night, we will definitely be back and I will be recommending you to anyone that wants to eat around Darling Harbour - well done girls and the Chef Visited March 2016

well its been a few years, since i have been here, i disappointed this time. we ordered 2 glasses of champane not chilled to correct temperature, our garlic bread had burnt edges. my salmon skin not crispy. we order desserts, served to us with no spoon and fork. table service very poor. would not recomend this restauant to anyone. overall experience 4 out of 10. people give this place a miss.

Helpful staff. Would be a 5 if it wasn't for the seagulls but that is not the restaurants fault. Best view of the fireworks, lobster was so fresh it was like he had just been swimming in the harbour 10 minutes before he landed on my plate ! Great place for a first date if your looking for the ride.

Food's decent. The novelty of eating on the big boat is cool. It's often hard to tell if there's a function on or if the restaurant is open. Maybe the restaurant downstairs is always open? I bet if they signposted that they'd get a bunch more business.

Lunch at the South Steyne was a delightful experience. The service by Hannah the bonnie lassie from Scotland was exceptionally professional and friendly, the food tasty and the price competitive. MCB

Amazing location, I was here during the Sydney light festival Vivid, great spot to watch all the action although the food wasn't really that good, the portion sizes are absolutely tiny considering the high price the food and beverages, I had basically walked out of the restaurant after my meal not satisfied at all as well as annoyed about the portion sizes despite the high price and mediocre food, I ended up still starving afterwoulds, I wasn't really happy about this place to be honest

Nice staff and very polite BUT the fish and chips it's so greasy i couldn't eat it , waste of money !!!!
