Decent Japanese fare, cold-hearted poor service. For an establishment as The Star that reputes on high standards, we had one of the messiest “fine dining” experiences ever. We went for the tasting menu, which consisted of a 7-course tapas style progression. Despite looking pretty, each dish fell flat, and though we would have let this go under normal circumstances, the fact that the service was so bad just made this whole experience a terrible one. The whole night we noticed how slow plates came to our table, usually taking 25-35 minutes in between courses. The unacceptable part was the lack of proper service. No server checking in on us in between courses. We had to keep calling the servers to get waters, order drinks, or even get cutlery replaced and table cleaned. We had several servers assigned to our table as well and the whole night just felt messy, with servers bringing us the wrong items. Listen, if you’re a foodie, avoid this place. It’s simply not worth what you get here for what you pay. The staff is evidently trained to increase table turnover to improve profitability and true hospitality is left out the door. I felt bad for most servers, they looked unhappy and stressed, and their energy rubbed unto us. We were going to spend more on drinks here and were excited to play at the casino after, but after this experience, we decided to leave early and will likely never dine here again. Very disappointing, Sokyo.
Great food - excellent service! Lovely ambience! $800 for four but includes a bottle of Champagne and a bottle of Premiere Cru Chablis! I would go back tomorrow! Very nice girl served us but I can't remember name
Thanks to Dani, we had an amazing dining experience at Sokyo! The servings were bite size but it’s well expected for fine dining. The flavours were delicious and beautifully presented. True Japanese flavours heightened by in season Australian ingredients. We would recommend this experience to someone looking to splurge on a nice dinner!
We tried the tasting menu, a cocktail and a recommended sake. Overall, food was delicious. One dish missed the mark slightly and they were happy to receive feedback. Our server Sunbeam did an excellent job in providing service and recommendations.
Food presentation, taste and freshness was top notch. The place itself with good music overplay really makes the dining experience more alive. Great hospitality from the host and the staff. We had ordered dessert wine after our meal, waited enough yet we never got served, also it was a regular Wednesday evening, other than that everything was brilliant definitely will come back!!
Look, not going to lie, dinner was simply epic!!! The food, wine, ambience; just the whole experience was simply stunning. We did the tasting menu with matching wines and it is just the most lovely experience. A strong recommend to everyone!!!
With my partner went for first time to celebrate Valentine's Day, we ended up in love! The oysters and the Crispy rice tuna Ningiri are a must! Had an unforgettable dining experience on my partner’s birthday! Tasting menu was really worth the money with both beautiful presentation and flavourful dishes. Many thanks to Sunbeam and the rest of the team for the excellent service throughout the evening. Will definitely be back next time!
Had a birthday dinner here and was served by Blaire, great host with great food. Blaire was super friendly and accommodating helping us with menu selection and taking a lovely group photo of our group! Eggplant tempura was a stand out dish!
Went here for my birthday today = the food and it's presentation was amazingggg! Especially the kingfish and tuna dishes. And our waiter Blaire was so lovely. She literally sang me happy birthday and gave my dessert with a candle! So attentive and sweet. Will definitely come back !
