WHY DOES IT TAKE SO DAMN LONG FOR FOOD TO COME OUT?? If you can't wait an hour and a half upwards for your mains to come out and spend your whole night in this loud noisy restaurant, you're going to have a bad time. The staff are nice, the atmosphere is honestly not the best, the food is nice but watching six tables of 5+ people diners get served their mains before you feels terrible. Did they literally pull the meat out the freezer, thaw and cook it from frozen? Because it sure feels like it. There is no delivery option here, seems short staffed because it takes ages to wave down staff. I watched one of the waitresses spill half a bottle of Coca cola on two tables original table + table behind them, she cleaned it up but didn't offer to replace the drink at the original table. Not saying they should be entitled, but I would be VERY unhappy had she spilled it on my phone like she did with the original table. The food overall can be broken down into meat, oil, salt, thyme/parsley + side of veg or carb per dish. Interesting choice to season the lamb cutlets with balsamic oil. I think this place is worth trying, but personally would not come back here. I would say my patience is at best 40min wait for the main after placing the order, then additional time allocated for dining. Parking: Be careful, there are resident/passholder street parking areas nearby. There is basically no street parking nearby, expect to park 500+ meters out behind the block on street. Also be wary the side walk behind the block is VERY uneven, high/low and cracked, there is no lighting so at night you will 100% trip over if you don't watch your step.
Portuguese chicken was juicy and delicious. Wow the rice that was served with it was so good and flavourful I can eat that rice on its own. Loved the polenta! Found the pork belly a bit dry and octopus slightly over cooked, but everything else was delicious. Lovely service as well. Recommend
If they had just served shoe string sized fries, I would choose this place over frangos every time. The food here is pretty much the same quality but I find that when filling the containers, they actually will fill it to the brim and give you quantity. It doesn’t feel like they’re trying to cut costs by going soft on the filling like other places.
I've been here multiple times with my partner, and it's always been a treat! Apart from having delicious Portuguese dishes, what stands out the most is the warm and friendly welcome you'll receive from all their staff. Our go-to dishes are Garlic Prawns, Porco Alentejana, Pipis, Charcoal Pork Belly and Bacalhau a Tachinho. Don't forget to partner your delicious meal with their selection of wine, or grab a bottle of Cerveja Sagres and you're set!
I have been here multiple times and here are my experiences: Takeaway - loved the chips here, but the charcoal chicken suffered from uneven cooking, and I also found the lemon and herb sauce to be a bit too sweet for my liking. Dine-in - ordered some seafood dishes and were amazed by the flavours and the generous serving sizes, the highlight was the cod fish served with a tomato sauce topped with oven baked chips Overall, I enjoyed the food here and shall return to sample more dishes from the menu.
Our go to family restaurant. We have been so many times we know the staff. Always request the circle chips as a substitute. It costs an extra $2.50 but totally worth it!
Been visiting this restaurant for years but today was totally shocked at how backward the quality of food has gone Whole chicken and pork belly came out luke warm probably in the vicinity of too dangerous to serve that cold… one serving of potatoes were the frozen type cooked properly the ones served with the pork belly were hand cut chips that came out as uncooked potato even the waiter was surprised… oh since I’m at it have a look at the rotten tomato they served in the salad… go down the road heaps better
Silvas ticks all the boxes: tasty and interesting food, excellent and speedy service, and a nice setting. We had a variety of types of meat and all tasted quite different. The restaurant was very full but it wasn’t too loud. Book ahead if you have a group.
Tasty, juicy chicken with a delicious chilli or garlic I had both sauce, crispy chips and a generous serving too. Salad was fresh and the pastries with cod, chorizo etc were also delicious. Indoor seating or takeaway seating outside which is dog friendly.
Great food and service last night. Seafood starter, octopus, cuttlefish, calamari and garlic prawns. All exceptional. Main was salt cod, pork and pippies and the beef skewer. Superb red wine for $30 a bottle. Authentic food. Will return.
