My friend and I-----both Tasmanian artists -----went to the gallery today. The lady on duty was very grumpy and there was no welcome in any way. We scanned ur phone and used sanitiser without being asked but she told us to wear gloves----we refused! We touched two cards----in cellophane---thinking we might buy them when this woman shouted at us-----what did you touch! She was so rude and totally unfriendly-------we won't be back nor will any visitors we have staying with us!! Shocking behaviour for a gallery relying on sales from tourists. No stars from us!!
We called into this gallery yesterday, as I had seen from across the road, a number of beautiful glass pieces. I said to my husband that I knew I would be taking a few of these pieces home. I collect glass from all around the world and was keen to add to my collection. As soon as I entered the store I immediately turned left so that I was standing behind the display in the window. I very gently went to touch one of the glass pieces, when this woman came charging at me making this uh uh uh noise, very loudly, like she was chatting a toddler, and snatched the piece from in front of me. She spoke in a very condescending and loud voice, saying not to touch the “artwork”, and to put gloves on. In my excitement I hadn’t even seen the gloves on a low table further into the store. Fair enough, I understand everyone is super aware because of Covid, but her attitude needs to change!! I was embarrassed and humiliated in front of other people in the store, snd my husband and I just left. She could have gone about it in a much nicer manner and if they are so concerned about hand sanitiser damaging their precious artworks, then they need to have a Covid marshall greeting people at the door and asking them to put gloves on, and hopefully someone who is a bit more pleasant than Miss Trunchbull!! I spent my money elsewhere, and we were treated pleasantly and respectfully.
How rude. Was about to buy a gorgeous painting and just needed to check with my brother it would fit, and then got shouted at for taking a quick snap. Told it was against Australian law to take a photo. Almost spent 5k on the paining. Thank heaven we didn’t. How rude. Stay clear. Arrogance was unbelievable.
disgusted at the total rudeness of the staff member who actually came out of the shop door shouting and pointing at us after a friend who was reminiscing about her grandfather making an item similar to one displayed, accidently touched the object with her hand, the owner in a loud and obnoxious voice, informed us to put gloves on , and if hand sanitiser was present it would DESTROY the object.... ridiculous way to treat customers in a tourist town.... never going back! NO STARS
I have bought countless arts from this place it's absolutely amazing especially the leather masks
Lovely items and terrific staff
