Story

Rocksalt Italian opened its doors in Spring 2013. It is a blend of the well known and loved Rocksalt at Menai and La Cucina. Aron Filetti (Rocksalt & La Cucina) & Clay & Carol Chapple (Nineteen Bistro, Kareela Golf & Social Club) bring you mouth watering food, a fantastic selection of wines, beers; including Asahi & Cricketers Arm on tap, cocktails and espresso coffee all topped off with a friendly atmosphere and helpful staff.
This combination assure that Rocksalt Italian will be your new favourite place for a family get together, an intimate dinner for two, an after work drink or place to catch up with friends.

Our license means you can sit in our bar area to indulge in a cheeky cocktail, a cold beer or the perfect glass of wine without needing to stay for dinner. And if you start to feel a little peckish, we have the option of a bar menu offering the perfect tummy-fillers.

Just had an absolutely incredible meal here for Father’s Day lunch. The set menu was full of delicious options, it was hard to choose! Really tasty food, nice generous portions and good value for money. Family friendly with a great kid’s menu - so we will definitely be back! So nice to have a great local Italian restaurant in Jannali. I wish we had discovered it sooner, we’ll be recommending to all of our friends and neighbours! Thank you for an excellent lunch!

Fantastic experience! My partner and I came here to celebrate 6 months together. Food was served in generous portions with an excellent wine selection. They decorated our table with love heart glitter on the side.  Restaurant was cosy and decorated nicely. They have a comfortable lounge wall with cushions. Wait staff were very professional and attentive. We attended on a Saturday night and the place was very lively and noisy. So it's not the best place for a long conversation but at least we were able to cuddle up between meals on the lounge.  They went out of their way and even wrote happy anniversary on our dessert plate and complimented us on looking like a cute couple and asking us how many years we were married!  Being busy, meals take a little longer to prepare and we found the share bowl garlic prawns was too small for 2 people and they didn't bring out additional bowls to spoon it into anyway. So keep that in mind when ordering. Otherwise main meals were very generous indeed and very tasty. I ordered the duck and it was well done. Just the right portion size. My partner ordered the chicken cacciatore and it was most definitely a large plate of food that we ended up sharing!  I'd definitely come back here again!  Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options

Loved the food - we had pasta dishes with incredibly fresh seafood. Amazing rocket and beetroot salad. Loved the friendly staff and attentive service. Loved the ambience which was so conducive for a long chat and a good catch up with friends. The pavlova was a bit too sweet for our tooth but the tiramisu was lovely. Will definitely go back again.  Parking: Super convenient, lots of street parking. Also very close to train station.

We had a large table of 11 people. Service was well timed and the food was excellent. A fabulous choice on the menu and everyone enjoyed their entrees, mains and desserts. No complaints whatsoever. Reasonable prices for great food. Highly recommended. The only small complaint was BYO did not include beer.

Highly disappointed at this restaurant in many ways.. yes it was a Saturday night.. but there still appeared to be too many bookings for the available staff and consequentially made the room very noisy and service slow. We looked at the specials on the board which strangely had no prices to compare to the menu?? We decided to only order only bread then a main each to speed things up.. but no.. with the mains finally arriving after some 70 minutes, just as we were going to leave in frustration! No indication of an issue or apology about this from staff. The food was unfortunately not worth waiting for as it was very over salted from the kitchen and like eating salted potato chips!! The staff generally were very good and pleasant and doing their best in the circumstances. The manager offered a discount for the delay, but the damage was done. I would not recommend this restaurant and as we eat Italian out often for comparison I can honestly say that this is the worst food experience I have had with a local eatery and I do not say this lightly.

My partner and I went here for my birthday.  After reading all the great reviews, I was really looking forward to it.  Unfortunately we both walked away disappointed.  The decor and food were very average.  We're yet to find a great Italian restaurant in the Shire - Queen Margaritas comes closest, especially their pizzas.  I couldn't recommend this to anyone based on our experience.

This restaurant is fantastic.  The food is delicious, the service is excellent attentive without being intrusive.  And the space is calm and quieter that most restaurants.  Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Our group originally had a larger booking and when numbers changed on the day of the dinner, Carol was incredibly understanding and couldn't have been more accommodating. Her staff kindly offered to put out table decoration that we had so we didn't have to waste time and even chilled our BYO wine for when our group arrived. We were all made to feel extremely comfortable. The set menu was varied and delicious and everyone's dietary needs were catered for. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Service was perfectly spaced encouraging conversation without feeling hungry. More importantly we never felt rushed, rather we were welcome to stay and enjoy ourselves. At the end of the evening, Carol didn't even bat an eyelid when our group needed to individually fix up certain items other restaurants would have insisted they don't itemise bills - but not here! If I could tell everyone to patron  Rock Salt Jannali, I will ... not just because the food is great and portion size is filling or the warm professionalism of the staff or the not feeling rushed like you're a number attached to a time slot to maximise the businesses cash flow... these are great attributes of this restaurant, but I recommend Rock Salt Jannali  because of the feeling I received from the first inquiry for my booking to the very end of it - the entire experience was outstanding. Thank you Carol and staff, other restaurants need to take notice of how you do things here- it's all in the details that leave the final impression and give a customer a definite 5 STAR experience.  Vegetarian options: Delicious , fresh options they can use to cater to your style- fresh fish, pasta, fresh daily vegetables - even a yummy looking egg plant lasagne as an entree and I am not vegetarian- but it looked good.  Kid-friendliness: A restaurant that caters to everyone, from the romantic table for two, to families and parties or group bookings....it doesn&#39;t seem to ignore any dining demographic.  Parking: Lots of parking available in the street. Especially as trainline parking is directly opposite the restaurant.  Dietary restrictions: Caters for people who have allergies, just let the staff know before your booking and when you are ordering. More than one vegetarian option available.

Disappointed with quality of meals in general after reading reviews. Service was average waiting over 20 mins to order dessert and in the end didn’t bother and paid bill and left. Lacks atmosphere, feels like an open cafeteria.

Excellent restaurant with beautiful and delicious food, with great staff and a friendly atmosphere. It's one of our favourites.
