If you look past its Chinese management and Chinese methods of running the restaurant, then honestly the food is pretty damn good. This place has the best roast duck on rice I've ever had so far in Melbourne. I can't remember what the other dish was called, but the beef is very tender and just melts in your mouth as well. Do eat the dishes with chilli oil and plum sauce. During peak hours, the place can get pretty darn busy, but otherwise it's relatively quiet. As with the complaints towards the staff and management, I have no comments on it. Sometimes the Chinese stereotypes are true, sometimes they're not. Just let them do their job and enjoy the food. That's my advice to those eating there.

The Rock Kung restaurant is one of the 'standout favourites' for dinner in Kingsway. The food quality and quantity are just fine and the wait staff are most supportive and attentive too which is most important. We love the fact that it is a little bit rundown, a little bit 'old World', and not at all like many of the competitor restaurants located in Kingsway. If it gets too popular or, if management feel they need to upgrade or modernise then they face the risk of losing that 'special sauce' (or ambience) that makes the place so enjoyable. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal with friends then you'll not do worse than going to the Rock Kung restaurant with the 2 x hole in the wall front windows.. Enjoy!

Oldest Cantonese style restaurant in the famous Glen Waverley strip. Best time to visit: supper time, afternoon at 3 o'clock. Pi Pa duck is to die for
