A very nice place for dinner. The entrees of  pork belly is good, shrimp cocktail was ordinary. Scotch fillet was cooked just right. Alcoholic ginger beer recommended by the staff paired nicely with the pork belly. Overall, great experience.

The atmosphere was great, and Kelly was welcoming and had great customer service.  Nice touch was asking our names and using them.  The pork sliders were very tasty and the others enjoyed the sticky chicken.  GF Options for mains and a dessert.  Good drinks list both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Clean bathrooms.

: One onion rings to rule them all!! Actually the best onion rings we've ever had though. Amazing Lord of the Rings inspired pizzas, incredible chicken and so many options to choose from.nn: A great place to head to after your Hobbiton tour! Not in your face LotR's themed, but just a nice nod for those who know. Nice open and specious seating, great for warmer weather.nnFollow Foodie Mama NZ on Insta for more reviews.

I'm an American visiting Matamata for the Hobbiton tour. Redoubt was excellent and I recommend it as the place to go for anyone visiting like I am.nOrdered sticky chicken and my dad ordered fish and chips.  Both were excellent.  The pizzas look good and I would try them if I were to visit again - they are thin crust and look unique.nIn any case, this place seemed popular and I was very comfortable there and was served food that tasted good.

We stopped by Matamata for a quick feed after a long hike, unfortunately most of the food places were closed and the one we were particularly wanting to dine in was closed it was a Monday. Luckily, Redoubt was open and it did not disappoint.nWe had the pulled pork nachos, Eowyn’s pizza and the chicken fingerlings. My sis-in-law and I really liked the chicken, it was my fave out of the three we ordered.nFriendly staff and good service.
