Nice option for a day trip IF you like hiking
Such a magical place, and just so close to downtown city
Enjoy full day hike. Go to Summit for true panoramic views. Get very hot on sunny days in summer. Can enjoy bay and swim on other side. Carry lot of water and food to keep you energized. Keep it clean and enjoy every bit of it on Motutapu side too.
A great day to spend here great exercise
We visited in the middle of summer & found the heat pretty difficult as there's very little shade on the island. Absolutely loved our visit despite the heat, will come back one day when the weather is cooler.
Falsely advertised as being a singular island. This is actually two islands. Return ferry arrives at the extremely inconvenient time of 4.00pm. 3.30pm is a much more suitable time. It rained near the conclusion of our visit so 4 stars only.
Beautiful day hike - despite all the lava rocks, nature is blooming over there. Don't forget to discover caves too- you can go in some inside. Make sure to pack water, food, sun protection and hat with you. As water is crystal clear, you might want to enjoy swimming as well.
Beautiful place and view. We conquered Rangitoto summit with our ride class crew and my babies #summeradventures #makingmomeries #withmybabies #2020
