Free entry museum in the heart of Launceston. The contents aren’t that extensive, so an hour was enough for us to explore the main exhibit hall, kids interactive science playground and the small space exhibit. There’s a Planetarium inside showing different movies at different times ticket’s required for this one. Parking is easy.
It is one of the best museums in Launceston. There are many exhibition rooms with different themes, which I enjoyed very much. I spent hours in there.nHighly recommended!
The museum exhibits dinosaur fossils, various Australian biological specimens, the past of Australia's maritime trade and salvage of sunken ships, and the life and craft supplies of Port Arthur Prison at that time. The MIND BLOWN DAN MARSHALL special exhibition upstairs is very interesting. The history of The Launceston Railway Workshops is also important locally. It's fun to have some science-powered interactions outdoors.n2024.24.04 2024.28.04
Nice museum with a good mix of history and science. Excellent coverage of trains in Tasmania. Also many exhibits on local animals.
I recently visited the Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk with my wife, mum, and son, and we had an absolutely fantastic day! The exhibits were diverse and engaging, offering something for everyone in the family. We were particularly impressed by the science exhibits that were both educational and fun, captivating our son’s curiosity. The dinosaur displays were a highlight, bringing prehistoric times to life in an incredibly immersive way. The train exhibit was a nostalgic journey, fascinating for both young and old. The museum is well-organized, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, it was a memorable experience that we all enjoyed. Highly recommended for a family day out!
