I very much enjoyed my night here at the Stillwater. The food was sensational and very reasonably priced. I enjoyed the sophisticated atmosphere and the staff were very attentive. The only reason I drop a star is due to the exorbitant prices of the wine and drinks! A normally $30 bottle of wine was inflated to $75 and you won't find bottles much less than this price on the menu. As such, I would recommend dousing yourself prior to attending.
If I could give it six stars I would! A wonderful dining experience - the food and wine were sensational, the service was exceptional and all in lovely surrounds! Order all 3 courses and you won't be disappointed! We had Graham hope I've spelt it correctly? as our waiter and he was attentive and thoughtful. It was a gastronomic experience from start to finish.
What an absolute gem, doesn’t look like much from the outside but once you step in, you have this beautiful warm ambiance and the most lovely staff. We were walk ins and were seated in the restaurant but warned they were busy so might have to move to the bar area for dessert no issues at all, they were polite and let us know this might be the case in advance, and fed us quickly and beautifully. The food was really special, different and high quality, alcohol range was good. And the care the staff took in bringing out breads and little dessert portions. I rate this place. Had a lovely evening here.
Small portion but full of flavor, very tasty and delicious. Fresh ingredients and very high quality. Well looked after. They even went the extra step and light up a candle on my dessert for my birthday. Pleasant experience. Thank you for your great service.Recommended dishesDulce De Leche and Chocolate Tart, Potato Foam, Market Fish, Sorbet, House Gnocchi
Very impressed with the food and service. Easily one of the best restaurants in Launceston. We were lucky to book a table by the window with Tamar river view on a beautiful sunny day. The food was absolutely top quality. The fish of the day was the highlight. Super tender and fresh, cooked to perfection.
We had booked the Stillwater Seven before COVID and delayed our booking multiple times until we finally made the trip this past year. Upon early arrival, we were welcomed by the staff, who was one of the owners and favorably remembered our initial booking from years ago. We were offered a complimentary drink in the fantastic restaurant until our room was available. We had plans to walk around Launceston a little during our stay until we saw our room. We loved our room so much, overflowing with technology especially the lighting, that we opted to relax, nap, watch TV, and relax a little more. We even opted to order room service for breakfast which was most excellent too. We did happen to journey outside of our room to the Stillwater Restaurant, and our VIP-like service continued with incredible service and conversation with our waiter, Graeme. ...and the food ...my goodness! We had been up and down the East Coast of Australia over the past couple of weeks, and no meal could compare to our entrees, mains, and desserts at the Stillwater Restaurant. All-in-all, this accommodation, and restaurant are rare. We were treated like special guests, and I'm confident the hundreds of glowing reviews confirm all other guests at this hotel/restaurant are too. Bonus points: My son left his AirPods at the hotel. The hotel sent me a text asking if they could ship them to our home in the states without me asking or requesting us to pay for shipping or the inconvenience. This place is exceptional, and, no doubt, you will be treated as such. Highly recommended!
This is a fantastic restaurant to come to if you have a bit of money to spend on culinary culture. The food was incredible the staff were very helpful, professional and friendly and the atmosphere is is wonderful. Situated near the bank of Tamar River in an old 1840's flour Mill, this restaurant does boost alot of historical character. I absolutely recommend.
Meals were average but adequate. The table service was less than ordinary. Much of lunch time was taken up with trying to gain the attention of wait staff for 3 requests salt, water, & to add a side order. We then waited & waited and had to ask again. Then the responses were ungracious. Not my idea of an enjoyable experience. All five at our table agreed it would be our last visit. Nice view. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible.
Easy 5/5, highly recommended! The service, food and atmosphere were all excellent. The beef cheek was incredibly tender and well seasoned. We had the meringue and panna cotta for dessert. Both were terrific, the best dessert we've had for a long time. Well done!Service: 5/5
An excellent dining experience. The food was superb, with so many intriguing and delicious layers of flavour to explore and enjoy. Eating here gave me a new appreciation for the degree of skill top-level chefs employ to create a sensory experience in every mouthful. I particularly enjoyed the octopus and noodle entree and the uzu tart dessert I forget their exact names, both of which are among the best food I've ever eaten. The setting is lovely, and the staff highly professional and attentive. Perhaps the only negative was the awkward way the option to give a tip was given when paying by EFTPOS at the end of the night. Will look forward to returning for another special occasion.
