Our cycle group 12 older gents stayed here on the 6th night of our recent tour from Cape Reinga to Bluff. The accommodation was booked over 6 months in advance firstly by phone, then by email. Our stay here was excellent with great rooms, showers etc and Leanne in the office was most helpful. Highly recommend as a place to stay with easy access to the beach although a bit rough to swim when we were there.
Port Waikato is like the beach holiday of yesteryear. One shop, one coffee cart and one takeaway caravan. Pays to check when the last two are open.nGold card discount for stay at camp was a lovely surprise. Definitely will stay again. Staff very friendly. Self contained cabin had everything we needed.
Overall a good experience at PWHP. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There were a few minor maintenance issues with our cabin, but all that were raised were resolved.nnThe unit we stayed in was a little dated, but very clean and tidy. The bedding was comfortable. We would return.
Spider infested cabins, stains everywhere on the carpet. Wasn’t expecting much, but was definitely not expecting the amount of spiders. Was told dogs weren’t allowed inside, so had them sleep in the tents. In the morning a few staff told us someone said we had dogs in cabins, never did after getting told the first time, only came near the cabins to eat food. Staff didn’t seem to believe us. Cats would try to enter your tents.
Small and peaceful holiday park, close to sunset beach. Friendly staff. Facilities are a bit old but are maintained well and clean.
