With its historically and culturally rich background, Platform One is indisputably one of Melbourne’s most unique and sought after premier event spaces.

Story

The Banana Alley Vaults were first constructed between 1891-1892 and were used as storage facilities by local fruit merchants to store their wares. The name “Banana Alley” came about specifically from Bananas being stored and ripened in the Vaults, before being taken to market.

In the late 1980s the Vaults were put up for lease. In 2001 several extensive renovations were completed, and Vault 7 & 8 officially opened its doors as Platform One Nightclub.

Since opening its doors, it has played host to a number of different events, including but not limited to hosting internationally acclaimed and recognised musicians and DJs, regular club nights and a variety of corporate and business functions.

The venue is divided into three separate rooms, and can accommodate up to 680 guests at any one time. Boasting a world class sound system, close proximity to public transport, friendly venue staff, a one-of-a-kind underground aesthetic as well as a historically and culturally rich background, indisputably makes it one of Melbourne’s most unique and sought after premier event spaces.
