Wonderful little pub with oodles of character and old taste. A good selection tasty beers on tap & hearty pub meals won’t go in for the Barra again, though. Their sticky date pudding absolutely hit the spot
ended up with $123.4 dollars for two including drinks black cab beer smells woody and was really delicious, such a big cup $14 that I couldn't finish myself, had to pour some to my partner's. Pork rib was the best, the sauce and seasoning were top tier. British Pudding could be better. edit: I came back again, the apple pie was superb, it's a must have, not sure why they put it in the bottom of the menu, and we ordered pork ribs again, its still amazing~!
Great city pub to meet friends. Very friendly and attentive staff. Food is yummy. I had barramundi with potato mash and coleslaw, which was delicious. Each meal in our group of 6 was very good. Battered fish and chips, Guinness pie, nachos, bangers and mash with mushy peas, all were tasty. Reasonable prices too. Decor is eclectic and pays homage to super sleuth Sherlock Holmes and his off-sider, Dr Watson. Dishes are named accordingly. Typical English pub dishes blended with modern cuisine, caters for every palate.
Service was really good, food was the type my mum use to cook back in the UK. Only downside was the UK draft beer was way to cold. Brits love there beer 'celler' temp, not ice cold. Apart from that, staff were friendly and atmosphere was just right for the occasion.
Amazing place with an amazing atmosphere. They have a great selection of beers and even better food. I had the Sherlock Holmes Pork Ribs and it was absolute heaven. I'll be definitely going back for more.
We walked in and were lucky to get a table, so recommend you book ahead. There's lots on the menu to choose from. The corned beef is served on a bed of mashed potato and a yummy sauce, the roast beef was not rare enough for me, so glad I didn't choose it. But for hubby, it was perfect.
Fantastic food with great prices and huge portions! Friendly accommodating staff, cute interior decor and nice selection of drinks on tap
Consistently good and cozy English pub. Can't ask for more; good food, good beer and good service. Lady was cheerfully checking everybody's Vax cert and everybody was happy to show.
Totally recommend this cosy little pub! It's only a small venue but it has got so much character, amazing parmys, Cold beer and friendly service. I recommend anyone that like a Parmy to try the Mycroft's Parmigiana. With real chicken breast and hand made bread crumbs this was one fantastically flavoured parmy with the mashed peas! Only a Ten minute walk from Southern Cross station it's a great spot for visitors to Melbourne to start and experience the amazing food Melbourne has to offer!
I got myself Scotch Fillet Steak served with chips, salad and mash potato Friendly service, tasty food!
