Story

Pipers by the Lake is an award winning Ballarat restaurant and wedding reception centre. Located in an historic 120 year old building on the shores of Lake Wendouree and across the road from the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.

Pipers by the Lake was a finalist in the Ballarat Business Excellence Awards in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and in 2011 received a Gold Award for contemporary dining as voted by the customers of the renowned Entertainment Book.

Pipers is renowned for value and quality and the best coffee in town!

Pipers By The Lake is set in a truly lovely and beautiful location, surrounded by nature and birds that move peacefully around people. It feels like the perfect place for quiet reflection or even a bit of meditation while enjoying your meal. The atmosphere is calm and soothing, making it easy to relax and disconnect.nnThe crew were pleasant, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. I can only comment on what I ordered, which was the chicken burger, and it was delicious with a generous portion that left me satisfied. On the day we visited, the weather was cloudy with a cool breeze blowing through, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful place to unwind and enjoy good food in a beautiful setting.
We celebrated our anniversary at Pipers by the Lake and it was honestly the perfect setting. Sitting at an outdoor table overlooking the lake, surrounded by lush green trees and that open, peaceful view, made the whole afternoon feel special from the moment we arrived.nnThe food did not disappoint. The fish and chips were beautifully crisp and fresh, served with a vibrant salad and proper golden chips. The fried chicken burger was next level — generous, crunchy, packed with flavour and stacked properly. Simple, hearty food done right.nnWhat really makes this place stand out is the atmosphere. Relaxed, scenic, and unhurried. Enjoying a cold drink while looking out over the water with my wife on our anniversary was exactly how it should be — calm, comfortable and memorable.nnIf you are looking for a spot with great views, solid food and a genuinely pleasant outdoor dining experience, Pipers by the Lake delivers. We will definitely be back.
​A lovely spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a great place to relax with a morning coffee, especially outside where there is plenty of natural shade from the trees.n​The indoor area is spacious and very clean, though it can get a bit noisy when it's busy. The space is well set up and the staff are lovely. Definitely a nice, welcoming atmosphere!
Megg and her team made our wedding one of the most enjoyable events ever. Guests could not stop talking about how beautiful they decorated the tables and hall. Guests also raved over how great the meals were and how well they were cooked. The staff never stopped helping us, talking, laughing and helping us enjoy the evening their service was excellent. We would highly recommend Pipers on the Lake to anybody looking for somewhere to hold their wedding.
Had breakfast here this morning. First time as we are from interstate. What a lovely surprise. Great venue, great food, great location and atmosphere and staff were friendly, helpful and happy. We would definitely recommend Pipers by the lake
