Story

Phil's Place is owned by Phil Rudd, drummer of rock band AC/DC and managed by Jo and Penny who have had 40 years experience in hospitality. Their team offer a wide range of classic dishes together with many tasty tapas and a great wine list - a casual dining experience with friendly staff with views overlooking hundreds of pleasure craft to stunning views of Mount Maunganui.

Food was delicious. Friendly staff. Plenty parking. Beautiful view. It's a nice casual place. Crispy pork belly and homemade Cheese cake was so delicious.

Loving Phil’s Place, Restaurant and Bar. Phil Rudd the Australian drummer, of the rock band AC/DC. The venue is in a fantastic location with fabulous views and tasty well presented food. We sat outside it was a lovely warm sun trap. I ordered the ceviche it was full of flavour, I totally enjoyed it, my partner ordered the mussel fritters and he said they were the best he’d had. The staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming. Plenty of available parking, mobility accessible. So many good views of of launches, plane activity, and a view of the mount.
Great location, beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff, and the best food in the Bay of Plenty. In fact, one of the best restaurants in New Zealand. Update: We're back again and Phil's Place is as wonderful as ever. Still terrific chowder, steaks, pacific island ceviche, and maybe the best fish and chips in New Zealand. New favorites include their really incredible salmon, the Thai chef's salad we ordered it with beef to make a classic Thai beef salad, and Pad Thai. All are terrific, but if we had to pick a favorite, I think it would be the salmon.
