What I had been led to expect ' compassionate and respectful guidance ' was not what I experienced recently when dealing with Steven. My friend wanted to be cremated. I assumed his body would stiil be treated with respect and all cares given - this certainly did not happen. My friend deserved so much better. The lack of care,compassion and communication was inexcusable and made this sad time even worse. I regret using the services of Papatoetoe Cottage funerals.
Thank you Stephen for making such a sad and difficult time stress-free. Mum's passing was made a lot easier thanks to Stephen taking care of us and going out of his way to make us feel welcome. We were able to stay the night at the Cottage and have shared meals with our loved ones. The cottage is warm and welcoming and the gardens are beautiful. I cannot praise Stephen enough and encourage anyone who wants a caring and stress-free send off for their loved one, to reach out to Steve. Thanks again, Va'afusuaga Family.
Stephen was just amazing going over and beyond the call of duty. The funeral cottage was the best venue for my family as we gathered to honor our loved one who had passed away. So homely I felt so comfortable despite the reason for our family gathering. I reside in central Qld and just appreciate the hospitality received. Thank u Stephen for being invisible until needed. Our Whanau would like to thank steven For his excellent service he provided for our dearly loved mother who passed April 10th 2021. Steven went over and beyond his services to help Us. From the first phone call he was there within 1/2hr To pick mum up. Papatoetoe cottage offered whanau to stay at the cottage with mum. For the night before we headed up north There was no stress or pressure trying to organise sleeping arrangements or food preparation. Our family just loved the cottage it has a warm comfortable family feeling very welcoming. Thankyou so much steven Ngaa mihi nui kia koe. Broughton & Leef Whanau.
Steven went over and above his call of duty. He provided an amazing service, second to none. Anything our family requested , he did it wholeheartedly and never complained. He made us feel so welcome, he treated us like we were family. Thank you for making our Aunty's farewell so much more memorable.
From Brisbane I stayed here with family for a couple of nights attending my auntys funeral. This place has such a homely, comfortable and peaceful feel to it. It has a lovely floral garden at the front and also a little Avery at the back with a spacious back yard with tables and seats. A communal room with kitchen facilities and comfortable seating, mattresses. Almost everything you need is on the premises and the location is perfect with the convenience of a dairy, laundromat, fish n chip shop next door and bottle store across the road . Steve was so friendly and ever so helpful and respectful of our culture offering to do anything extra to make our stay comfortable. I would highly recommend this place and would like to say a big THANK YOU to Steve as I didn't get a chance to see him when we left
Papatoetoe funeral cottage went above and beyond their duties as a funeral home. They treated us like family and gave us all the time we needed with my cousin before her funeral and burial. We were given a herse to use so we could take her to our nana who wasn't well enough to attend her funeral, and we were given the code to the cottage so we could camp there for as long as we wanted without interruption. Thank you thank you, thank you!
Don't be fooled! The owner has been in the business too long. She has a story for every occasion to cover up or dismiss her mistakes and laziness and when challenged about it just uses her standard reply "I've been in this business a long time ...". No apologies, no remorse, just offended that we spoke up. She took it upon herself to make important decisions for our family without consulting us - like telling the coroner's office we didn't want our loved one's tissue samples back. By the time we realised she's not a registered member of the FDANZ it was too late. Unprofessional and sloppy with no real thought, concern or empathy for our family or our loved one. Told us our loved one's ashes were in a plastic container "like a tupperware container" and was in a bag on the floor inside the cottage door for pick up. I've seen pizza deliveries get more respect. Could write a book about the lazy and disrespectful service we received from the owner of the Papatoetoe Funeral Cottage and we will definetely never recommend this place to anyone. She made a very sad and stressful time so much worse and has tainted the memory of our loved one's farewell. Look elsewhere!!
Highly recommend this wonderful & beautiful family business. Excellent service, facilities & location. What I was most impressed about this business our family were able to drive the hearse & their vehicles, free Wifi was accessible to stay in touch with family & friends whom were unable to attend also a bonus for our overseas families. Thank-you Steve for always making sure if we were ok & needing anything. God Bless
